The Bottom Line The Titleist Pro V1 392 is by far the best golf ball on the market today and the best ball in Titleist's line-up.
Since the Titleist golf ball section has yet to be updated on the site, I thought I might use this space to enlighten you on the newest golf ball from Titleist. The Pro V1 392 may be the best golf ball on the market today. This newest ball from Titleist utilizes a large central core section that is made from a combination of urethane and elastomer rather than the liquid core of the Titleist Professional. This new core gives the ball a very soft feel, even off the driver and longer irons. The most amazing thing is that despite the soft feel, the Pro V1 is almost 15-20 yards longer than the Titleist Professional. Off the short irons a golfer can expect plenty of spin, even out of the rough. For the average golfer this increased spin is an added bonus, but for the more experienced golfer the added spin may be more of a nuisance. The Pro V1 392 spins quite a bit more than the Professional and for some of the better players and pros this is an unwanted bonus. A lot of better golfers will end up spinning short iron shots off of the putting surface. In fact, several of the club pros in this area have switched back to the Titleist Professional because they prefer the lower spin rate. Overall though hitting this golf ball is like cutting with a hot knife through butter. It feels so smooth every time you hit it and it does not seem to go out of round to easily. This ball is quite durable and it putts very true. It comes off the putter face very smoothly and you will find that this also holds true off of your woods and irons as well. I truly believe that this is the best feeling golf ball out today! Quite possibly the only drawback to this ball is the cost. A dozen Pro V1's will usually cost you anywhere from 50-60 dollars, depending on where you are shopping. That's almost 5 dollars a ball, which can be excruciating if you happen to knock one in the green-side pond or into the woods off of the tee box. If too much spin is not a problem for you and you don't mind spending the money, then you can't go wrong with this ball. If you already spin the ball quite a bit with your current golf ball, then I do not think you will benefit much from switching to the Titleist Pro V1. |
