Have just started to go through this process with my daughter.
Your review is the one we started reading this epinions section with.
Others will have to go a ways to top your review.

Thanks, Jen! I really appreciate your feedback! I just hope the upcoming applicants don't make the mistakes I made last year! :) :o

What you had to say about the college application process was right on the money. I filled mine out 2 summers ago (it seems like yesterday) and should have been more organized and punctual about it. Future college applicants would benefit greatly from your review, as long as they read it before they've started filling in the blanks!

Comprehensive! (Reply to this comment)

Excellent review/instructions. I recently went through a similar process and got into all the schools I applied at and am now attending my top choice (Stanford).
Here's a tip that worked for me: A lot of the universities have similar, broad, essay topics (e.g. "Write about something that affected your life," etc.) If you are crafty, you can make one good essay and it will work for many colleges that you apply to. I think I sent the same essay to about five universities.
By the way, here's advice to any highschool juniors or younger: SATs are mega important. STUDY for them. If you do well they will make up for not-so-great GPAs, but if you do poorly then they will bring down even 4.0s. Plus, the better you do on the SAT the more scholarships you should be able to get. Every little bit helps.
