I completely agree with your title! Not all movies need be sex & violence (though once in a while isn't so bad). I expressed the exact same sentiments in my latest reviews of The Mothman Prophecies. Good flick!!

cactus_matt, great list. And, I'm not just saying that because you listed quite a few of the same ones that made my 10 Best Horror Films list last year about this time. Although you did, you also included a few I didn't, and, thus, of course, I had some you didn't on my list. However, nonetheless, good one.

You should be writing for Leonard Maltin. You're summaries of the films are excellent, packed with information, without revealing too much of the plot. Really superb writing. You could get the feel of the piece, what it was about, and the actual reason why you rated it. This is one of the best top ten anything's I've sen written. I thought your beginning was a bit weak, however, but it's obvious that it was just filler to get to the main course. Great Job!

...shy away from creating my own top ten lists because I always find more than ten to put on them. Ironically, though, if I were to assemble a list of horror films, as you did, my list would probably be quite similar, if not exactly the same...
