I don't know how it took me this long to find this review, but I finally have a pull-down menu on my profile page. Two, actually. Encompassing 14 of my nearly 500 reviews... Ugh. Implementing your code is going to be quite an arduous process. But at least now I'm on the right track! Thanks!!

...and we're still thanking you, John!

As a newcomer to Epinions, and a total HTML novice, I picked up a couple of tips from this review that helped me work on my profile. Of course, I'm still playing around with it, but it looks better today than a week ago!

Many thanks for easy-to-understand instructions.

I've been trying but I'm way goofed up. I wonder if part of it is that my browser is way out of date? I'm gonna have to keep trying but owie it's giving me a headache.

Thanks for the tips :)

when I finally have some time and energy to fix up my profile page. My big problem has been getting my picture on the profile, mainly because I do not know how/where to load it online to access from epinions. I had it on a site that closed, so the picture seems to have vanished. I am keeping your name handy for help.

Your review was AWESOME! I have been wanting to know how to do the drop down menus for my page. When I have some free time I am going to work on that. I can't believe I found your review telling me just how to this. THANK YOU so much! I look forward to reading more of your stuff. I'll be watching for html lesson number 2. Thanks again!

...with lots of good information...I only wish I could use it on my profile page!! For some reason an epinions bug has my page frozen so I cannot make any changes. The info that is there now was posted in May and I can't change it. My hubby is going back into surgery and I would love to be able to write about it on my profile page...grrrr epinions says they can't fix it either.
Keep up the great writing....kath

Something else... (Reply to this comment)
by macgyver24
Something else you may want to add to your review: using a counter to see how many people visit your profile page. I put one on my page from www.web-stats.com which is only good for a 30 day free trial, but I thought that would be long enough for me to get a feel for how much exposure my profile page gets. They give you some code that you paste into your profile and you're ready to rock. I started the counter at 100 yesterday and: 28 hits in 24 hours!

That was very kind of you. Also, thank you for enlightening me on how to spruce up my page. I am a intermediate HTML type of person, but I am very lazy!

I tried at the beginning of my membership days to make my page look more interesting, but I couldn't get it to work right. I will have to find the time to try some of your suggestions. Since I have over 100 epinions now, it would definitely be worth my while to make drop-down menus! Looks a little time intensive, but it would be worth it!

Thanks! Great Epinion!

Thanks so much for the sample code for the drop down boxes. I have set this up on my profile page at http://www.epinions.com/user-macgyver24 but I have taken it one step further: I used product thumbnails from the epinions site beside each drop down box.

Thanks again for the great ideas and tip

This should come in real handy for me. I have probably the most vanilla profile page on all of Epinions. I haven't even updated it in a year. You've inspired me sir. Bravo!

Thanks to everyone who commented on this review.

I should have mentioned that using a < br > command will give you line feeds in your text, hence splitting up your paragraphs.

I'll likely post a follow up review to this one with more HTML tips in the future (once I learn them myself).

Thanks again for all of your kind words...

that you encouraged me to ask for help if needed! I can't believe that I stumbled on this review. Just minutes ago I was searching through the help section trying to get info on changing my profile page.

I can't even get my paragraphs to stay separated in my profile! It's driving me crazy!

I know nothing about HTML. Heck, I felt like a total expert just being able to put things into bold and italics. I will definitely try out your tips and try to improve my page. But I'm warning ya, you'll probably be getting frantic questions emailed to you in the near future!

Thanks for a very informative review!

I have managed what I have with a lot of help with my friends. Your points are well taken. Little as I know I try to use what I do know to add some zest. If I had a few months, I would try the drop down stuff :) jo

Another user told me how to get the 'greater than' and 'less than' signs to show up in your review.

< = & lt (leave out the space; I had to add it so it wasn't used as code)
> = & gt
</tip>

cool, eh?
