This was my first selection after looking very carefully all mayor brands.
My main reason to get this product was because it was able to play DVD, the huge hd drive and the powerful processor.
I even installed various Linux distributions in a very straight-forward way but never could get the installed modem to work. I tested a Linux-compatible pcmcia modem and was able to connect to the net so consider this option if you want the penguin ride this Hp notebook. This is at most the only flaw of this product but is still ok.
What i love about this product is the HP post-buy service, with HP you are not on your own, you can always count for a solution to your problem soon or later. This notebook reported an issue with the internal modem but solutions were given just one day after the problem rised and formal drivers patches showed in a week. The HP product support web pages are one of the best i've seen for a computer vendor, keeps good boards with forums, drivers, recalls and updates, is very advisable to check vendor web page before buying a product, its web support could mean the difference between complete a deadline or not trust me.
