Terrible experience. Don't buy from them - you'll regret it!

I could go on and on about the problems with our order with AJ Madison. Suffice it to say that it took many, many phone calls over a month and many fruitless conversations with clueless and indifferent customer service reps before we received a shipment (a washer and dryer), only to find that they had shipped the wrong machine! Then, the driver tried to talk us into accepting what was shipped! (An inferior product, by the way). When I called AJ Madison yet AGAIN to sort things out, I was told there would be extra shipping charges because there were stairs. Now, this is an apartment delivery in New York City, and many, many apartment buildings in NYC have stairs. They are a NYC-based company, and they should know that. In my opinion, if there are extra shipping charges associated with stairs or other very common situations you might reasonably anticipate in an appliance delivery, it's the vendor's responsibility to ask about those things BEFORE the transaction is closed. It's either incompetent or unethical to tack on extra charges after the sale has been closed, because the customer makes his or her choice in part based on the total cost.
