| artiste's Full Review: Dell Inspiron 2100 Series |
The dell 2100 is a 1 inch thick 3.5 pound laptop. It has allot of power in a magnesium alloy case. The base price is $1899 and it has a 700 MHz Pentium III processor, a 5GB hard drive, 64 MB of RAM, a 12.1 inch 1024 by 768 matrix screen.
It has a ATI Rage Mobility graphics card, 4MB of SGRAM, a 56,6 kbps V.90 modem, a 10/100 ethernet port, and you choose Windows Millenium or 2000. You also get a Type II PC Card, USB, monitor, parallel, and PS/ ports for an external drive bay, with a built in microphone. If you want to add on a CD ROM drive it costs $99.
There is a fancier model which costs $2223 and comes with Windows Me, 10G hard drive, 128 MB of SDRAM and an optional convertible external drive bay which holds a DVD ROM drive (costs $199). I like typing on the keyboard and the Dell Synaptic Touchpad was very responsive.
The model has a battery which needs recharging every 2.5 hours which is average for notebooks on the market. I like the performance of this Model. The PC Workbench is very good.
Dell 2100 is a likable notebook because it can fit easily in a carrying case and handle a heavy workload.
