The Bottom Line You should know nothing about them, you naughty, naughty person.
First, I should tell you that this review is part of Mattels’ WTHITCHF Write Off. In case you can’t guess, that stands for ‘What The Hell Is This Category Here For’. In the past, I’ve had trouble coming up with subjects for write offs, but this time I had trouble in the opposite direction. There were too many I wanted to write about. When I was first invited I thought it was a great idea. I could write about choosing socks, or how to do such interesting things as choose/apply/make cosmetics, or any number of ridiculous things. Then suddenly, this topic was brought to my attention when my email alert cheerfully told me that imokliel had written about it. I’m guessing this is a new category as there is only the one (well now two) epinions on it. What really drew me to this category is that I didn’t even know what it might mean. At least with choosing socks, I know what the category means, however ridiculous it might be. Imokliel has a certain opinion on what this category means, and I warn you that the review has a rather serious parental advisory on it. As much as I didn’t want to admit that Imokliel was correct, nothing else made sense. So, I found myself at a new level of bewildered by the categories that exist here. I tried, however, to get away from this one and find something else to attack for this write off. The more I tried to come up with something to write about, the more my mind returned to this category. Seriously, what was this category trying to tell me? What did it want me to write about? What complaint letters to epinions are responsible for its fairly recent creation? Now, it’s easy to go the line of the previously mentioned review, but is that what this is looking for? Certainly, what pops to mind is of a somewhat sexual nature, but is that what Epinions had in mind? And, even if we assume that this category is meant to refer to ‘games groups of naked people play’, the category is supposed to tell us what we should know about them. It doesn’t claim it is a list of new and exciting games. But, what should we know about adult games? I mean, look around the other topics that are titled ‘What You Should Know About X’. They list a different sort of thing. If we were to follow the example of these other categories, we would expect to find things here like — Be sure to pack several extra condoms. Stretch out for at least fifteen minutes before starting any of the advanced level adult games. Hot & Spicy is a very good brand of edible massage lotion. Leaving your door open with a sign in the yard that says ‘Adult Games Inside!’ is NOT a good idea. Things of that nature. But, how helpful is that really? And, is giving this sort of ‘advice’ not an endorsement of playing said games? Now, we may be all for these games, but do we really need to help people out with their ‘adult game nights’, especially here. A review of Playboy is a somewhat realistic thing to include here. A review of Jugs, I’m thinking, is not. And what would it mean to have a category called ‘What You Should Know About Porno’, or ‘How To Choose Porno’? Really, this category might as well be called ‘What You Should Know About Swinging’. And, is this really what this means anyway? I have to admit that this is not at all what I thought the category was about at first. Maybe it’s because I just didn’t expect it. First I thought adult games meant things like cheating on your wife, or pretending to be someone you’re not on a date, or suchlike. Again, what should we know about those things? Ummm...don’t do it? Then I thought, maybe it just means perfectly innocent games that simply are not for children. Gambling games maybe. Maybe games that are not necessarily for adults, but are considered adult games because children rarely enjoy them. Cribbage? As much as I tried to believe that this category meant something along these lines, I just couldn’t do it. I can’t see what we should know about those games, anymore than I can figure anything else. And, even if we assume that this category is supposed to mean something family-friendly, it doesn’t inspire such thoughts, and it isn’t likely to inspire such writing. This all leads us to ask (as I’m writing here, write off or not) ‘Well Vormancian, What Should I Know About Adult Games?’ I think it’s pretty clear. Stay away from them! Don’t play them! They are very naughty. If you are going to play them, play them responsibly. (Look Ma, I’m a commercial!) Has this been helpful? Is it possible for something here to be helpful? I think, actually, it adds even a further level of bizarreness to even have to wonder if something written here was helpful. –-I really feel that when I walk into next Saturday’s orgy I will be able to do so with a newfound sense of confidence in my abilities. I hadn’t heard about sexually transmitted diseases, and your explanation of why I should use a condom was very helpful to me. Whew! Now I can feel safe. Also, we were having a bit of an argument about the rules to Duck, Duck, Goose last time and now I have an authoritative, objective opinion I can bring to the group. Thanks!-- Won’t I feel proud when I get that in my email. As I mentioned, this is my entry in Mattels’ WTHITCHF w/o. A long overdue write off in my opinion.
