Pros: Varied music, genuine lyrics sung by one of the most beautiful voices in Christian music.
Cons: Some may expect a more Southern Gospel feel, but this is very contemporary.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this album for anyone who loves contemporary Christian music. Tracks are either thought-provoking or they make you want to dance! David Phelps has a great, big voice!

| cshell76's Full Review: Life Is A Church by David Phelps |
Life is a Church is the fourth full-length solo album by David Phelps, formerly a tenor in the Bill Gaither Vocal Band. I own the first three and LOVE each one, so I obviously squealed and grabbed Life is a Church the first day it hit the shelves.
I was definitely not disappointed. Wow. This is hands-down my favorite album in my entire CD library right now. This album made me want to run right to my computer and write a review, something I haven't done in many months. I just had to share with everyone that this is a must have album for lovers of contemporary Christian music.
David Phelps wrote or co-wrote several of the tracks on this album, as he did on his other solo albums. He is a great songwriter - very real, heartfelt lyrics and intriguing music. One of the things I love about the front insert in the jewel case is that, along with the words to each song, David Phelps had written something about each song; why he chose to sing it, what gave him the inspiration for the lyrics, etc. It makes each song a much more personal reflection of the artist and affords the owner a feeling of involvement with each track.
Of course, my favorite thing about Life is a Church is David Phelps's voice. What I enjoy most about this CD, however, is that it is less about his voice and more about the music itself and the lyrics. While I listen often to his other albums, they feel more like a showcase of his voice. That amazing tenor voice is in the rafters! On this album, David reigns in that power in favor of lyrics that make the listener think and music that moves the heart.
The following are the tracks on Life is a Church:
1. With His Love (Sing Holy)
2. Something's Gotta Change
3. Life is a Church
4. That's What Love Is
5. Behold the Lamb
6. Long Time Coming
7. Gentle Savior
8. Visions of God
9. Power
10. The Name Lives On
11. Legacy of Love
The tracks are a great mix of thoughtful ballads and upbeat praise songs. My favorites are "Gentle Savior" which asks the Father to be our guide and "The Name Lives On" which proclaims that the name of Jesus is everlasting.
Well, one of my favorites is next on the album playing as I write, so I'll end here. I hope you will enjoy this CD as much as I do!
