I ordered 9 bamboo shades (waterfall romans) from Smith and noble a couple of months ago, the shades were placed in 3 separate orders. Overall it was a pleasant experience.
3 of the shades that I had ordered were cut to the wrong size. I sent them an email with my order confirmation to show them that the error was on their part and they immediately rectified the situation. 2 weeks later they sent me the replacement shades, in the right size.
Although, as stated by past posters, they do have quality control issues with cutting shades to the right size they do quickly fix issues once proven to be their fault. Another positive is that the shades seem to be constructed well and installed easily.
On the negative side, you have to wait an awfully long time to get someone to answer the phone. I mean a really really really long time.
So if you do decide to go with Smith and Noble I would only place orders online so that you have a copy of your order as proof in case they mess up your order. Ordering over the phone with a company that seems to be a bit unorganized is asking for trouble. Be sure to save the email confirmation as well and be prepared to be on hold for a very long time if a problem arises.
I guess in the end you get what you pay for. Personally the hassle that I had with the wrong sizes wasn't that big of a deal, considering the savings of course.
