Junior Army ROTC: "Your Daughter Wears Army Boots!"
by MsHooterville | Sep 05 '01
ROTC isn't for every high school student, and it's image could use some polishing. But for some kids, it's a way to learn team spirit, discipline and skill.

Sorry but this topic is about ROTC in college, not high school.

Hi Ms. HooterVille,

This is one of the greatest write-ups I have ever seen in epinions! Keep up the good work!

Hey hey hey now mom....every one of us JROTC junkies knows we have a military ball every year. ;o) You'll get your chance! LOL!

Man, I've been reading so many of your reviews tonight...I am so hooked. I usually try to read at least half of a member's work before I add them to my WOT, but I've been gone from epinions for over a year due to an international move/becoming a mom....and you have so many written reviews! (wow!)

Anyhow, from what I've seen tonight is enough to tell me there is plenty of great reasons to trust you.

Welcome to my web of trust. ;o)

Keep those great reviews comin'!,

Val (Who has always been a fan of Green Acres anyhow!) ;oD

...one year in the JROTC (freshman year at Heidelberg High School, Germany). Loved it.

When our family came back to the U.S., it was not available in our area in So. Calif. That was too bad, because JROTC was a great experience for me.

Great review,

the best thing for her!

Even though I abhor weapons, I too am proud of her knowing how to break down a rifle and reassemble the thing...At least she has the correct knowledge to defend her self, and will be taught more self defense moves that will help her out in life.

*Pauses, and ponders*

I'm jealous. It sounds like your daughter has more experience than me...and I've been in the military for a year! Good for her!!

I salute both you and your daughter (Reply to this comment)

I think it's great your daughter decided to take ROTC. I was administration officer Ltjg in our NJROTC and wouldn't trade the experience for anything, even though some students made cracks about "girls in uniform". Your daughter has overcome the obstacles of negative comments (I see that hasn't changed over the last 15 years) and has proven herself a winner for that and taking the challenge ROTC offers. Here's hoping she makes company commander!

Where I am from ROTC was part of a requirement (Reply to this comment)

Boys and girls alike had to take part in ROTC at least one year in high school. More female than male went all the way through high school. It is a great learning experience and if they do choose to go into the military such as my husband did you have a heck of an advantage over others. Great program in my opinion. Hope my daughter is offered the chance if she wishes to take it when she is in high school. Great review. Tricia (lildev)
