Sour Patch Kids are almost as addictive as crack (sweet tooth write-off)
Written: May 04 '01
Pros:no fat, great texture and taste
Cons:taste bad after a while, stomach aches from eating too many
The Bottom Line: Sour Patch kids are my favorite candy.
Being the Epinions write off w*ore that I am, I chose to expect the invitation to the Sweet Tooth Write-Off even though I hardly ever eat candy. I’m somewhat health-conscious and candy has little or no nutritional value and lots of calories and fat. I’m not Mr. health conscious though, every once in a while I do indulge in candy.
My opinions on candy in general
A lot of people eat candy at the movies, I never do. It’s too expensive. I hardly ever buy candy for myself, the only time I eat candy is when someone else has some and offer it to me. My friend Tyler is a big candy eater and he usually gives me a piece of whatever he’s eating. Sometimes he’s a b*stard and doesn’t give me any. I never eat Chocolate. That means no candy bars. Chocolate has too much fat in it, and I don’t really care for the taste. I prefer the sugary candy, rather the chocolate candy. Sure, it’s full of sugar, but it usually has no fat. I guess I’m the same way with frozen treats, I’d rather eat a popsicle than eat some ice cream. It’s the same type of thing.
My favorite Candy
When I thought about my favorite candy a few came to mind: Skittles, Warheads, Swedish Fish...... but then I thought of my absolute favorite........... Sour Patch Kids. For those of you who don’t know, Sour Patch Kids are basically Swedish Fish shaped like children and then covered with a sour tasting sugar. Sour Patch Kids come in four exciting flavors: orange, cherry, lime, and lemon. These are your basic candy flavors that you see in most candies. I like that Sour Patch Kids are keeping it simple.
Some background on Sour Patch Kids
Sour Patch kids are a fat free food. This is good for people like me that enjoy losing weight. They can be found in movie theaters across the country and probably worldwide. Sour Patch kids are covered with citric and tartaric acid to give them a sour taste. They were first made by the company Malaco from Sweden, but they are now made by the M & Ms corporation in Canada. Damm those corporate buyouts.
Why I Like Em So Much
I a fan of sour candy, but I don’t think them to be too sour. Sour Patch Kids are not too sour. They are sour, but there is enough sugar and sweetness to balance out the sour taste. This combination of sweet and sour creates a very appealing taste. The idea of shaping the candies like children is a little morbid. I don’t really like the idea of eating small children in candy form. If you don’t over-intellectualize eating Sour Patch Kids it’s rather fun.
A Warning
Sour Patch Kids are good, but I warn you, don’t eat too many in one sitting. I think this rule goes for most candy. After eating them for a while they start to taste bad and your stomach may hurt. I think your body also might have trouble neutralizing all the sugar that is coming in. If taken in moderation Sour Patch Kids can be very good.
Nick’s Final Thought
I’m not a big fan of candy. I don’t think I’ve eaten any candy for about a year. When I do eat candy I like to eat Sour Patch Kids. They’re fairly healthy (in terms of other candy and sweet snacks) and they taste great.
