A Profile of AleSmith Brewing
by andaryl | Sep 05 '01
AleSmith is among America's best brewers, but also among the least known. This is not a brewery that likes to shout, preferring to let their ales do the talking.

but I recommend you try Ballast Point before you proclaim a best brewer in San Diego.

Yet another thorough and entertaining beer review -- you're making a science of this, aren't you?!

I like this partly because of the way you set the stage. I gotta agree that you're smack dab on target with the assessment that most SD brewpubs are formulaic. Last time I was in town, I quaffed a few brewskis down at Terrific Pacific. They seem to have some decent house brews, plus a very friendly, laid back atmosphere -- at least they did me right.

Can't wait to read your next review,

I've got that old 10% Horny Devil ale in my refrigerator right now, but I will not wait past this Saturday to drink it. I cannot keep beer in the fridge for months and months!

A really great review Andrew. Sounds like an excellent visit. I hope this brewery increases its distribution. Right now, its products are also available at Beverages and More (bevmo.com).

Prices are a little steep ($10 for 750ml bottle of ale), but good quality products do come at a price.

Cheers Andrew!
