I usually shop at Radio Shack for phone jack connectors, extension cords, computer protectors, and things of that nature. I never even think to go their when wanting to buy a tv or a phone and things of this nature. I like to shop their for the simple fact that I can ask questions to be sure that I know what I am getting is correct.
Their prices seem to be higher on alot of items that I have compared and that is why I choose not to shop their unless their is something that I am confused and not knowing what to purchase to make sure I am getting exactly what I need because If I go to a department store I will end up waiting for hours before I get help and most of the time the workers can't find what I am looking for or dont have a product in stock and point me in the wrong direction.
I have noticed sometimes that they do have low priced tv's in stock, which surprised me last time I went their to purchace a 3way connector and they had some pretty competitive prices also...so sometimes you can find a good deal on certain items.
I also like that it is very easy to get in and out of Radio Shack, because the line is usually not long and the stores do not stay that busy and is very convienent for me just to run right in and out instead of waiting in a long line in a department store and not even being sure if what I bought was right or not, even if I do spend a couple bucks more.
Although..........I have went to Radio Shack a long while back when their was only 1 employee working and another customer kept asking questions for 30 minutes (probally not going to buy anything) so I just walked out of the store and that was the only bad experience I had at my location and now everytime I go their, their is more people working and I get right in and out. I guess all the store could vary by location however.
I recommend reading the ads in the paper to see what specials that they have to see if your getting a good deal or not, alot of the times Radio Shack will have buy one get one free items like batteries and such and can save you dollars...
Radio Shack also sells satellite radio and satellite cable which is more expensive than if you call the company direct or take advantage of satellite specials that are always advertised on tv or on ads...Radio Shack also sell cell phones from AT&T and different carriers, which you can usually ind alot cheaper at a wireless store, with the contract and specials that they have going on.
I see ads all the time for Radio Shacks cell phone deals in the paper, but to me their price is still higher than a retailer shop, most of the time...for Example: I seen a phone at Cingular Wireless for "free" with a 2yr contract, and 179.99 at Radio Shack with a 2yr contract, plus 50.00 mail in rebate so If you shopped at Radio Shack you would have lost 129.99
I have seen this with Radio Shack most of the time when comparing cell phone deals.
I recommend shopping at Radio Shack when making small purchases, like a connector, phone cords, adapters and things like this because the price is about the same in department stores and the workers are very helpful when you are not sure what you need to buy.
