TEA BAG FOLDED CARDS

Sep 06 '01

The Bottom Line A very unusual design for another type of greeting card.

Here is yet another way to make your rubber stamped greeting cards look totally different than any that you can buy in any store; as far as I know, anyhow.

You will need:

Paper with a repeat design
Scissors
Glue
Ink Pad
Rubber stamp with circle design
Card stock

Cut eight - 2 inch squares from tea bag paper (that you can purchase in stamping stores) or pretty wrapping paper with a repeat design, or stamp your own design on plain paper to your liking.

Begin folding each square, right sides up, from corner to opposite corner (looks like a triangle). Open up and fold the opposite corners together the same way. Then open again and this time fold the paper squarely in half and then open and fold squarely in the opposite direction. You now have the paper with 8 fold marks.

Pinch the fold at the lower left corner between left thumb and index finger and hold. With your right hand, pinch the fold at the upper right corner and hold. Move fingers towards each other near the center of the square, pinching along the folds as you go. This will form a small triangle. There should be two layers on each side. Hold folded triangle with open edges at the bottom.

Flip top right layer over to the left so that you now have three layers on the left side and one layer on the right side. Fold bottom edge of left top layer up to the center fold line. This will form a smaller triangle on the top left layer. Flip top left layer back to the right; you will now have two layers on each side.

When you have all eight of the squares done, you can start assembling! Put the top part of the one side of the triangle to the second, glue, and so on until all eight are together and it looks like a flower bud.

You will end up with a top "flower bud" and a bottom "flower bud". Take your card stock, cut a circle in the middle of it; now put all of the legs from the lower pieces and put it in the circle and the top will be secure, looking as pretty as a flower! When you open the card stock to the inside, the left hand side will have the bottom half of this design all in place there; put a little glue on each triangle to keep the design in place.

Now you are ready to stamp a greeting on the other inside of the card. This is a little complicated, but with a little practice, you will be a pro. I hope that you like this new greeting card design as much as I do. Enjoy!
