If you are a book lover then Dover is the site for you. With an incredible selection to choose from, a massive kids section and prices that can’t be beat, Dover has become one of my favorite sites. But hey, that’s all fine and dandy - the real kudos come from the brood; have you ever heard of boys that are enthused about going to a book site? Over the past few years they have picked out a lot of cool books from Dover and most of them revolved around space, Egypt and all things medieval. For homeschoolers this is a site that you have to have bookmarked; not just for the basics but things that really get kids enthused about learning. They have coloring and activity books for just about any topic imaginable and the prices can’t be beat.
I first came across Dover Books at Michael’s; they had a small display rack of $1.00 mini activity books for Halloween and I fell in love with them. To me it is easier to go to the website and pick out what I want and keep shopping until I hit the $50.00 mark [free shipping for orders over $50.00]. That might sound like an easy task but with their books priced so low, sometimes it’s hard to get my total amount up to fifty bucks. That’s when I start digging deep into the site - areas that I haven’t checked in a while and of course the clearance section. If you are looking for a book site that treats you with respect, is willing to help you find just the right title and doesn’t rake you over the coals when it comes to their prices then Dover is the place for you to shop.
Selection
If you are someone that values a wide variety of titles to choose from then Dover is your site. They have everything from holiday and arts and crafts to children’s activity books. Other titles include American Indians, mythology, coloring books, crafting basics, Egyptology, dinosaurs, Celtic history, seasonal celebrations, pre cut stencil books and tons of books for kids. This is where I try to get all of the “Little Activity” books for the younger kids, they make great stocking stuffers and are wonderful to have around to keep them busy. You can also get tattoo booklets - this is the only place that I found that had ballerina tattoos and trust me they are so freakin’ cute! They also have a sale / clearance section that is a great place to hit if you are looking for book bargains. You can also receive a 10% discount if you order 25 of the same title of a book. With their already low prices, ordering in bulk will help stretch your book budget farther! Some of the titles that I’ve ordered for the brood in the past include; “Knights And Armor Coloring Book”, “Life In A Medieval Castle And Village Coloring Book”, “Medieval Jousts And Tournaments” and ”Knights Activity Book”
Ordering at the site is simple and easy and almost every single title has a description and photo of the book with it. The sections are broken up nicely so it is easy to find what ever it is you are looking for and if you ever get lost you can get back to the main page quickly. There are so many different sections to explore at the site so plan of taking your time when you first visit. The easiest way to get through everything is to go to the index and look at the section listings, this way you can narrow down your choices and find titles of interest. Customer service is great and quick to respond to emails or if you call them, they will always try their hardest to help. At present the site only accepts MasterCard and Visa for purchases however if you are ordering for a school or library you can ask them if there are other billing options available.

Gift Certificates
If you know that someone would love to shop at the site or from their catalog but you aren’t sure what they’d like most you can opt to purchase them a gift certificate. You can order them to be used at the site or through the catalog but ones ordered for online can only be redeemed online and ones ordered for the catalog can only be used for the catalog. You can order these in six denominations ranging from ten to one hundred dollars. I have never ordered gift certificates from the site but with so many of my friends getting hooks on the Dover line of books, it looks like this might be something that I will do this holiday season.
Shipping Fees
I take advantage of the free shipping offer when I place an order, domestic orders over $50.00 receive free Media Mail shipping via the United States Post Office. If you are ordering less than that, you can get the current shipping prices at the website, when you place items in your cart or by calling customer service. With gas prices rising and falling so often you never know when the rates are going to change so it’s best that you check the site before you order to see which method is going to be the best for you.
Return Policy
The site does give you a thirty day return period, to get through this process the quickest make sure that you have the invoice you received with the order or at the very least, the books that you received. They have a form at the site that you can fill out to speed up your return of the item / items so that you don’t have to waste time sending emails or making a ton of calls to get an RMA [return merchandise authorization] number. The Bottom Line
So far shopping at the Dover site has been hassle free, they have quick shipping and you can’t beat the prices on their titles. They have a wide variety of topic and themes to choose from and no matter what you are in to, chances are there is something at the site that will appeal to you. Now that Annabelle is starting to get into dancing and ballet there are more than a few books that I want to get for her. I am hoping that they have some small activity books for her so she can have something to do on the long road trips, she really likes the different nature coloring books and the ones that they have for unicorns are incredibly cute. I have nothing but great things to say about the site and how they treat their customers, that’s why I order from them and check their site before I even think about looking for a topic at another site. You get a good bit of detail about the books but if you don’t like it, you can return it for an exchange or refund.
