Pros: A well constructed, high performance machine
Cons: Horrible Tech Support, They will not honor their warranty, Company was just sold!
The Bottom Line: You aren't dealing with the "old" Micron. A great value if nothing goes wrong, but if it does then, you'll have to deal with the "new" Micron. Caveat Emptor!

| vandalrog's Full Review: Micron Millenia MAX Series |
This machine is just fine as long as nothing goes wrong with it. However, if something does, then be prepared for one of the worst experiences of your life. Being an avid Micron supporter for many years, I didn't ever think I'd have to write this letter. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM MICRON! In the past if I had any problems with a product I'd purchased from Micron, then they would be rectified in an expedient and friendly manner. I'm sad to say that Micron no longer exists. In fact things are so bad that their parent company, Micron Electronics, just sold them off to somebody else. The final straw came after waiting over two hours for somebody to answer their tech support line. When I "finally" got a hold of somebody, they were totally incompetent and to make matters worse they questioned if my problem was covered by my warranty. Thinking that I just probably got the wrong guy I then asked to be transferred to somebody else. Apparently, unless your hard drive is ablaze, everything is now considered a "software" problem, and that is covered only fifteen days from the time you receive your system. My problem was caused by a disk related failure and now it's a software problem? Yep! I figured I'd call someone in sales or customer service and straighten the whole thing out. After all this was Micron, and customer service was their strong point. I spoke with salesman after salesman and nobody could give me a definitive answer. Finally I was told for the mere sum of $2.99 a minute, I could talk to one of their "software specialists," at a 900 #, and they would take care of it. I'm from Boise, I know some pretty influential people in the company, and have done a lot of business with them in the past, so eventually I went over their heads, returned my machine and got my money back. However, if I didn't have these "connections" within the company, then I can't even fathom what this could have escalated into. Knowing that most of you do not or will not have these "connections" that I did if a problem arises, then I thought I'd better warn any other old Micron supporters to tell them the truth about the "new" Micron. In PC Magazine's May, 08, 2001, on page 36 they give a 5 star rating to Micron's new Millennia MAX XP2 Dream Machine, and they state that there's more to performance than clock speed. If they only knew? I'm sure the "Dream Machine" will be solidly built and perform to the impressive benchmark test numbers that are listed in the review. However, if anything goes wrong, then I'm also sure that the "Dream Machine" will turn into somebody's "nightmare." I'm really sad to write this, but don't say that you weren't warned.
