Pros: What wonderful reception and so many channels to watch.
Cons: Can't get the husband away from the TV now.
The Bottom Line: We've had the most wonderful last 7 months with this satalite dish.

DIRECTV, what can I say except that we are hooked. Good thing we have two TV's so that we're not just stuck watching what my husband does. You see, he flips back and forth from channel to channel, drives me crazy, and then he always seems to get stuck on the history channel. I didn't even like that subject when I was in high school.
We're kind of a strange family though, we haven't even had cable since 1980 so yep that's right, only gone by an antenna and only had the local stations. My sister's boyfriend works for an electronics company so we thought what the heck we watch more TV now that we are retired and my sister's boyfriend gave us a really good deal and had his guys hook everything up for us.
That part was great, we didn't have to do anything but sit back and watch them put the dish on the roof and run two separate wires down to the two different TV's since we wanted to have two receivers. You see, I was already warned that if you only had the one receiver then everybody in the house had to watch the same thing. Well, no way would that work. My husband has his box and me and my two girls that are 19 and 21 have the other box. This really does work out well for us. But, then the guys left and we were left with these strange looking remotes. Wow, took me forever to figure it out and forget the hubby he still can't figure it out unless it's set a certain way.
We had to call DIRECTV to get us started and then imagine our surprise. We couldn't believe the picture, it was like ohhhhhhhhhhhh, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, such a clear picture and no snow and then you start flipping the channels. I've never seen so many channels in my life. We must have sat for days just staring at the screen. Everybody always laughs when I tell them about it because no cable for 20 years? Nobody had ever heard such a thing.
Out where we live there is a monopoly in the cable company, and they have always been way to high for our liking, so we just choose to stick with our antenna. Now we have to pay only $46.00 a month for I have no idea how many stations that we get plus we choose the star package too so that gave us even more. We also have to pay the extra 5 bucks for the extra receiver, but for $46.00 that includes all those channels and the extra stuff I knew we were getting a heck of a deal.
You just wouldn't believe the reception that we get off of that little satellite dish. Digital TV I love you. DIRECTV has this one channel called LMN that is for Women only and that's where me and my girls always seem to get stuck. They play the most wonderful mostly true stories about women's lives. We also have got caught up in the pay per view part. You only have to pay $3.99 for a movie that has just come out of the theaters and you can watch it all day or even tape it. We have quite a big movie selection in video's, so if it is one that I like and it's under 2 hours then I tape on a for keeps tape. Digital tapes better in the LP mode so that's why I only tape those.
It really is amazing, I used to even be so hooked to my computer but you can see that I haven't even written an epinion for a while, some of that is because can't get away from the TV.
For anybody who is thinking about getting one of these satalite's, just do it. We've had no trouble at all and we just love having digital TV.
