I received a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck from my in-laws as a graduation gift. I only recently discovered the fanciness of the Meisterstuck.
The Product
The Mont Blanc Meisterstuck is available at Mont Blanc stores as well as stores such as Amazon.com or JR.com. It retails for about $250.
My Experience
I believe my exact words to my husband were, “This is the best pen I’ve ever used!” That was before I learned that Mont Blanc was one of the leaders in the writing instrument industry. I was shocked when I learned of the cost of a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck pen; the pen retails for about $250. Say what? Oh my goodness! And to think I was carelessly using the pen everywhere! Talk about not knowing what I had …
The pen is black and sleek with gold accents. It has a white, snowflake-like cap on the top of the pen, which is what lets others know that the pen is a Mont Blanc. The body of the pen is made of resin and has a “jet-black” finish. The gold lines the middle part of the pen (bottom of the cap with the words “Mont Blanc Meisterstuck engraved in it), pen clip, and the bottom tip of the pen. The pen has a good weight to it; it isn’t overly heavy but it does not feel cheapy-light either. A twist of the cap over the barrel reveals the pen tip. The rollerball pen writes superbly. The ink comes out smooth and even; no globs of ink. The pen gives writing a light and airy feel. I do like the feel of the pen in my hands when I am writing because the body of the pen is not so thin that it fatigues my hands. Writing with the Mont Blanc pen spares my hand from writer’s fatigue as the design of the pen is very comfortable. I didn’t think it would be comfortable because it does not have the padded cushion grip like other ergonomically designed pens, but the Mont Blanc does deliver comfort.
I have not had to change the ink supply of my Mont Blanc Meisterstuck. It is easy to remove the ink supply by just unscrewing the cap over the barrel.
Now that I know the Mont Blanc Meisterstuck is a valuable pen, I won’t be bringing it everywhere I go for fear of losing it. I used to use this pen at work and leave it strewn about the clinic; good thing I did not lose it! I know that I would not purchase this pen for myself as the price is so steep for a pen. Prior to knowing the price of the pen, I knew it was a nice pen but would not dare to think that it was more than $100, let alone $250! The Mont Blanc Meisterstuck pen is a splurge and is most definitely not a must-have. Though the pen writes very well, I am not sure that it is worth the price of $250. It does have excellent craftsmanship and quality, but in the end, it is still … a pen.
