I have been a customer of tirerack for almost 10 years. So you could say that I used to like them. However, I really never had to deal with their customer service.
Well, not until recently when I bought a set of winter tires and wheels. The wheels that they sell do not fit the stock wheel covers. So I call customer service, which promptly lets me know that they never claimed that the wheels will be like the standard OEM parts. This is contrary to the sales order: the line item on the order mentions "14x5.5 5-100 dodg/gm st new"! Then I asked the guy to give me a discount on the order so that they share the expense of my buying a new set of wheel covers (they cost just $30 at the local autoparts store). This was, in my view, fair and not that big of a deal: it would have just made me feel better. But NO! THey don't care about that and the tirerack guy was almost rude when he told me he won't do it.
I concur with the other few people that had to deal with the tirerack customer service: if you need to deal with them you might be in for a bad surprise.
There are plenty of places that sell new brand name tires and wheels and offer comparable prices. Next time I will look elsewhere! We, the customers, helped them get big and now we get slapped in the face for a few $.
