The 80's had the best in film!Sep 10 '01 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line Enjoy your trip down memory lane. Perhaps you should put on your jelly shoes and braclets before you start! I was such a child of the 80's. "Gag me with a spoon" was one of my fave sayings! You see list generate all over the internet about children of the 80's. I have every child of the 80's qualities. I liked NKOTB and Fraggle Rock, but most of all I liked the movies that the 80's provided! So in no particular order here are my TOP TEN FILMS OF THE 80'S. *GOONIES Kids go in search for lost treasure. Who can forget this classic? I love everything about this movie. The mystery the thrill and the story behind the movie. Mickey and his friends go on one last adventure before they are forced to leave there town. They are after the treasure of One Eyed Willie. All the children in the film are great, Data is by far my fave. And who can forget that wonderful line still heard so often today? Hey you guyyyys!! *BILL AND TEDS EXCELLENT ADVENTURE Two dudes must pass history exam or the flunk school. I love this movie. There is just something so simple about it. Bill and Ted use a phone booth to travel in time and pick up dead dudes for there oral history report. This movie is fun and enjoyable to watch. *RAD Boy wants to be the best dirt bike racer. Mother does not want him to. Welcome to Hell Track. Cru wants to race bikes and his mother wants him to go to school? What to do, what to do. The reason I loved this film so much is the dance/bike scene between Cru and his girlfriend Christian. When ever I hear the song "Send me an Angel" I think of dirt bikes. *GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN Janey loves to dance, wants to enter contest. Father says no, she auditions anyways and makes it to the finals. I lived this movie. I would watch it every chance I got. The montage scene between Janey and Jeff during the song "I'm in love" was always my fave. I would re-watch that scene over and over, then try to dance like them. Great movie with 80's stars who have now made it big with TV series. *WATCHER IN THE WOODS Family moves to woods, where elderly lady is obsessed with the elder daughter. This was the only scary movie I could watch as a child, and I still will not watch it alone. A ladys daughter disapperead thirty years ago, but she is actually in another dimension. The whole film is just freaky. A lot has to do with the background music. Watcher is just scary! *BREAKFAST CLUB Misfits spend saturday afternoon in detention. This movie is the epidimy of 80's film and stars the elite Brat Pack. Well maybe not elite.... Who knew that a movie about kids in detention would be so good. However, I did always feel sorry for Brian. The other guys ended up with a girl and he had no one. Oh well. It looked like he was pretty proud of the essay he wrote. Who needs a lady when you can write such powerful words as his? *BEACHES Two young girls meet and remain friends through out life This is the first movie that I remember sobbing on. I do not mean I cried a little. I mean I SOBBED. How can a movie be so good and so depressing? Starring Bette Midler is how! She and Barbara Hershey are perfection in this tear jerker. *A LAND BEFORE TIME Dino's fled there home to go to "The Great Valley" Yes, there was a great dino movie before Jurassic Park. This animated film has always been a fave of mine. It tells the story of little foot and his journey to the great valley. He meets the most adorable new friends along the way. This movie is perfect for fans of all ages. Yup yup yup! *AN AMERICAN TAIL A family of mice move from Russia to the US because the believe that there are NO cats in America, and the streets are paved with cheese...... Fievel and his family move to America, then Fievel becomes lost and is trying to find his way back to his family. This is good clean fun for the whole family. I loved the "Somewhere out there" scene. Pretty emotional film. See even cartoons make me cry! *BATMAN Caped crusader fights the Joker in Gotham City. I love all Batman movies, this one is the best. Although I did miss the POWS and BANGS that came on the screen like the 60's version! The movie is serious and funny, with out being overly done on either side of the spectrum. The soundtrack was also as great as the film. Well there are my 10 faves of the 80's. Here are some more that are great but since this is only top 10 not 15 or 20 I could not squeeze them all in. TOP GUN GLEAMING THE CUBE SHAG MEN AT WORK ST. ELMO'S FIRE |
