My not-so-old TV blew a gasket (or something) after only two years, and the search was on for a replacement. Friends had told me that, for analog TVs, Sony's WEGA was the way to go.
After visiting local stores (Best Buy, Circuit City) and seeing all the models, I decided the WEGA was best for my needs.
I did a lot of comparison shopping, and read the reviews on Epinions.com of the various retailers, and decided upon Abt Electronics. I wasn't sorry I did.
The website is delightfully easy to navigate. Anything you could possibly wish to know about their practices and policies is clearly available for reading. If you still have questions, the site urges you to either call, email or use their "live chat" to speak to a staff member.
Abt's prices are highly competitive, and they have a marvelous selection of all kinds of electronics. In fact, their selection is much better than I found in any one store in New York City.
The price was not only better than anywhere else, but they offered free shipping on all Sony purchases, and the day I ordered they gave an additional 10% off any purchase.
This was the first time I'd purchased such a large object online and from such a great distance, so I was worried about the condition of the TV in shipping. Having experienced damage with smaller UPS deliveries, I was biting my nails.
I ordered on a Tuesday, and the TV arrived in the New Jersey distribution center of TeamAir on Friday. They telephoned me and I arranged for a Monday delivery. It came in perfect condition - not a ding or a bent corner on the box.
The TV is superb - just what I needed. I couldn't be more please with Abt's service and prices and am planning on buying air conditioners from them at the beginning of the year.
