I have tried and paid for Starz Ticket several times and have the following experiences to report. I am a massive movie watcher, factor that in.
Outages of streaming live "TV type" movie programming are common usually on sunday night or weekends. bad streaming, halted video, or bad res is common. I have a new trial now and the live movie showings have never worked. I'll be cancelling it. I've made that call too many times.
The language is a problem. I like to see the subtitls sometimes, sometimes not. You have this option with dvd, but not on starz. i downloaded das Boot once to hear the german and it was in English. I don't know what "Van Hellsing" is but do we really need 13 of them?
The first time i started downloading it took like 22 hours. Where are these people on technology? Calling india doesn't do a lot for my special teams appreciation . You have to call them to fix something. if you are not at a place where you can have a loud convo with a stranger with your credit card about your account and experiences, too bad for you. i have tried downloading "2 brothers for a bride" 10 times, it stops dead every time. (good movie, BTW)
Their customer service people DO respond however and are OK to try and solve problems with. But that is for technical support. Programming inflexibility is a drag. i wish I could put a playlist up and have them fulfill it. Then we would see some movies!
I guess the idea is to load into the playlist movies up for download so people can see the rest or the beginning. Why no James Bond movies? It's alarming how you can scan 4 pay/download services & NOT get the movie you want. aaagh!
my problem is i see too many movies. I still watch a lot though. There is a lot of movies available, but the best ones are usually the ones i already bought. This service is good for a movie newb or someone who hasn't seen that much.
The rotation is incredibly overplayed. I canceled it once because i downloaded the schedule and every movie but 2 playing around the clock for a month on the live showing i had seen. There is very little Shakespeare such as movielink offers. No BBC either. Movielink has those :)
But every week there should be at least one new movie to enjoy, but not really. Excpet for "Blade" there is not much. I went shopping online to see "Super size me", couldn't get it online. That's frustrating. Also, many good older black and white movies not available. Go figure.
a word about the Realplayer. This thing is resident on your puter and does not always behave. it will crop up and try to access independently, and customer service may want to convince you it your Norton's fault. hmmmn.
i tried the Real superpass and the games, was NEVER ever able to make it successfully vend me music or find a game i even wanted. skip those.
