| RBenson1's Full Review: Sanyo CLT-937A 900MHz Cordless Phone |
I have been through more cordless phones than I care to admit but I have finally found one I am satisfied with.
My biggest problem in the past with cordless phones was range. I lived in a big old house on a big chunk of land, and I had trouble finding a phone that had good reception if I took the phone on the opposite end of the house from the base or out in the yard. The Sanyo CLT-937A has no trouble with this. I have wandered all over my house and yard with this phone and I have never even gotten staticky reception.
My second problem with cordless phones was privacy. I used to live very close to an airport and there were times that I could pick up the control tower on my old cordless phones. Sources tell me that they could hear me too! I hated the idea of people listening to me so the fact that this phone is a digital spread spectrum sold me on it. Now the air traffic controllers can't listen to me and neighbors with scanners are just out of luck. (I even asked to make sure and they said they never pick me up anymore.)
This has also been a very durable phone. It has been dropped repeatedly but it doesn't even have a scratch on it. I guess I could just be more careful with it but it's nice to know that it can stand up to my abuse. I have two teens in my house so being able to take abuse is a must.
I have been very pleased with the battery on this phone. It holds a charge for a very long time, which is great since I often forget to put it on the charger for a few days at a time.
The speaker function on the handset seemed like a good idea but I have been disappointed with it. The sound quality is not great. I can usually hear who I am talking to pretty well but they have trouble hearing me so I don't use it much. It is convenient when I am doing something else and want to redial my mom to see if her line is still busy or if I am on hold forever so I don't have to hold the phone to my ear, but for regular talking I don't like to use this speakerphone.
My biggest complaint is that this model did not have a belt clip or a headset jack on the handset. I would like to be able to clip it to my side and plug in a headset and have my hands free while I chat. Oh well, I guess I can't have everything.
