Hot Jobs has good availability of the jobs that I am looking for, but the functionality is bad and system glitches cause me to recreate work that I have previously performed.
I recently began using HotJobs again to look for a new job. I am happily surprised at the number of jobs they have that meet my qualifications, but I am very disappointed in the resume creation and job application process. It's clear that this service has not received enough attention since it's acquisition by Yahoo! several years ago. I recently updated my resume on their service and due to a system glitch it erased all of my work experience on the updated resume. I will have to recreate the resume from memory and spend an additional hour of work.
Additionally, when you click apply to job, many times it takes you to an external site that has extremely poor job application workflows. Maybe it's a good thing to make applicants demonstrate their seriousness by having them go through many hurdles, but I believe that it creates unnecessary friction in the process. If I apply to a job through HotJobs, why do I have to re-enter my resume? This is the Internet and Web 2.0 would dictate that applicants should be able to lever HotJobs data and reduce data entry.
