Just realised.. (Reply to this comment)
by arjita
I was reading this one which had moved me when I first read it, when I realised that though I had read a bunch of your reviews way back then, I had not rated them. Hence my rating now.
You write very well and I look forward to reading many more from you.

Thanks for caring!!! (Reply to this comment)
by Machelle
Thanks for caring about other people's lives including strangers from other countries. What happened on 9-11-2000 will never be forgotten. People have to realize it wasn't only Americans that were killed in the Twin Tower's. There was people from your country as well as other countries who died so innocently ( for nothing). Just because Ladin hates the American's doesn't justify for what sorrow he brought and he even had people that worked there as well. I don't know what this world his coming to, do you?
I wish your safety and peace for I watch the news everyday and see your country is in turmoil with Pakistan.I do hope India and Pakistan can come to some kind of agreement.

Help Us All... (Reply to this comment)
by LEDOMAINE
to understand it. All of it. I can't help feeling there's got to be something we're all missing.
Great editorial. Your perspective sums it up. Thanks for the thoughts and for 'being there'. Take care,

No no no, (Reply to this comment)
by mridula
when I wrote about other places, all I was trying to say was the common person is at the receiving end. Those too are confusing for me, that is all I am trying to say. No intention to hurt anyone, particularly at this time.
And if I am sounding confused it is because I am. But please my intention is not to hurt.

Dresden?
Hiroshima?
Nagasaki?
innocent civilians were not the intended targets.

My Backyard (Reply to this comment)
by ChristineDale
I am a resident of New Jersey and this whole thing happened in my backyard - I can't even drive around the neighborhood without looking down the hill and seeing a skyline that has been raped. I also must insist this was an act of cowardice and not one of military proportions. Civilians weren't casualties of a military strike - they were targets.
This is a terrible and confusing time for us all. Thank you for trying to put words to your feelings. Perhaps definitive action now will mean peace for our children and our children's children.

You had me up until the end of this. The other examples you gave of bombings--those were acts of war. I don't believe any civilized nation would target skyscrapers full of civilians in a country that is not at war or even during war. The point is, innocent civilians were not the intended targets. I absolutely do feel for the poor people of Afghanistan. To just say no one mourns those in another country is inaccurate or a generalization at best. I hope they are not used as pawns and put in the way of danger. But at the same time, I can't wait for this war on terrorism to begin. That way it will be a little closer to ending.
