The experience was simply flawless. In the past 2 years I have purchased 2 giant and beautiful star sapphires both in excess of 120 carats.
My first purchase in November 2003 was a 146 carat Burma Blue Star Sapphire (33x23mm) with AGTA certification for just over $2,400. I can only describe this gem as nothing short of spectacular with exquisite sky blue color, symmetrical swirling pattern from the center outwards, excellent luster, stunning asterism and very strong 6-point star. The oval cabochon cut is excellent.
My recent purchase in November 2005 was a 123 carat Thailand Black Star Sapphire (34x29x10mm) for just under $200. This precious gem is breathtaking with striking bronze color, ammonite-like inclusions with symmetrical honeycomb pattern, beautiful luster, excellent oval cabochon cut. As a current GIA Graduate Gemologist student, I was attracted to this stone because of its fascinating inclusions.
Both stones were better than pictured and of the highest gemological standards. The AGTA certificate included with the first purchase had a nice photo of the stone.
The nice part about Simply Sapphires is that I don't feel the necessity to buy only stones with gemological certificates because I trust the authenticity of ALL their stones. My second purchase didn't have a certificate but the stone is obviously authentic as was the first stone with certificate.
I believe those who are not familiar with spotting fake gems can purchase their stones from Simply Sapphires with complete confidence, whether or not the stones they purchase come with gemological certificates (as marked clearly on the web site).
I'm very thankful to have such an awesome reservoir of star sapphires to choose from when expanding my collection!
