You want them to do what?? Pray??

The Bottom Line I want to express my deepest sympathies to all that are involved with this terrorist attack, both here and gone, in our great nation.
First, I want to express my deepest sympathies to all that are involved with this terrorist attack, both here and gone, in our great nation. Living in Oklahoma, we feel your pain and God Bless you all!
Now, moving onto the subject for which I’m here. This is my opinion of what our country is telling our children. I do believe this qualifies as a rant, so here goes.
This has to be the largest group of hypocritical people in the world. We are all guilty of being hypocritical at times; I’m guilty just the same. The 11th of September 2001, we proved a lot of things to a lot of different people. To the other terrorists on this earth, we have proven that we are susceptible. We have also proven that we live in a wonderful country and we all, no matter if black, white, Indian, etc. can stand together and make it through extremely difficult times. I think the biggest thing that we have proven is to our children. We have proven that we can be the biggest hypocrites in a time of need.
Our president has asked us all to go to a place of worship on our lunch hours today, September 14, 2001 and say a prayer for our nation. I believe that this is the greatest thing that our country can do right now. We must ask our God to help us through in our greatest time of need, but I must ask the question, “Why wasn’t our great nation asking him to protect us last week?”
When everything in our life and country is good, we never even mention his name, unless it is in vain. Our country was built on the premise of a greater power. It was also built on the rights that you may worship in your own way, ”Freedom of Religion”. I’m not here to try to save every person or to tell you how to worship, but why is it that we will let a few select groups of people take God, the bible, and prayer out of our schools, and then turn around in a time of need and ask them to pray?
I went through the range of emotions about this tragedy just like I think everyone has experienced. I was shocked, then sad, and then I got angry. As angry as most of the political figures that I’ve watched on TV for the past 3 days. I wanted to find out who and where these people were and go get them. I trust that our armed forces could go into whatever country and take care of business.
Then, as friends was telling me that we should go over and do exactly that, I stopped and thought about it. How would that make us any different than the terrorists? If in fact we proved that Osama bin Laden was the culprit, we would hold, according to our government, the country that is harboring him responsible also. I agree with that statement. I however can’t see how it would make us any better than Osama bin Laden to go over there and kill children and families in that country. I wouldn’t expect any other country to hold me responsible for everything my President or fellow Americans do. I don’t always agree with him. Should I be killed for his decisions? I can’t believe that everyone in that country agrees with Osama bin Laden either. I’m sure glad that no one held me accountable for the tragedy of the Oklahoma City Bombing. I sure didn’t share McVeigh’s beliefs.
What I seen in the past three days is Congress having a prayer vigil, people gathering in parks with candles for prayer vigils, the President of the United States asking us to pray, and God Bless America written everywhere I look. He has already blessed America in bringing God back into our great nation. His name is coming from everyone’s mouth and everyone is praying for him to help us through this hard time. If we will let him to continue to bless us, we will have God back into school and our homes with us.
We have tried it by doing away with it, and look at where we are. What did we expect, we did away with God, and life is less important? We have children with no regard for life. Mr. President, Congress, answer this question. You tell the nation to pray, you say God in your meetings, you sing praises unto him, and print "In God We Trust” on the back of our currency, for which I commend you. Why do you not make this move to bring God back to us? I am pleading to our nation to join this cause for each and every person we lost in New York, Washington DC, and Oklahoma City.
Definitely tell you kids to pray, tell them to ask God to help those that are directly affected by this act of terrorism. Tell them to stand strong, and God will stand right next to them. God will hold your hand and lead you in this time of need.
When it’s all over, thank him and don’t let go. Keep holding his hand and let him lead you through your everyday life. You will be amazed the things that will change in your life and how much smoother your life will run.
God Bless and thanks for reading.
