Mostly good, but sometimes a bit frustrating.

Freecycle is a way to get rid of things that you no longer want or need, and maybe get something that you do need and keep things out of the landfill.
To use this service, go to the main Freecycle website and then look for your city or a city nearby. New local groups are started all the time, so if you don't see your city, keep looking and utilize the nearby groups.
The premise is to give away things for free, and get things for free. No posts asking for money or business taglines in the main email group are not allowed. Replies to offers can have business taglines, they are going to one person - not the email list.
The Pros - free stuff. May not be in perfect condition, and if you can't use it, you can always freecycle it to another member. I've gotten blue jeans for my teenage son from a freecycler in my local area, and freecycled the ones that didn't fit to yet another member. This service is especially useful if you have large objects that you don't have room for and don't have time to have a garage sale. Admittedly, you don't get any money for them, but they are our of your way. When you reply to a member offering an item, you may or may not get it. The member, not Freecycle, decides who they are going to give the item to.
The Cons - waiting around for people to come and pick up stuff. I'll leave it on the porch if the weather is nice, but if it's raining, I don't want to do that. My time is as valuable as the person that wants what I'm giving away, and I get tired of hanging around the house all day when someone tells me that they'll be there between 11 am and noon, and then they don't show up until 4 pm or maybe not at all with no notification. I do give out my phone number so that they can call if they get lost, or can't find my house, so not calling is just poor manners.
All in all it's a great service.
