My pleasant little family has gone through 2 printers in the past year and a half. I don’t know why. It might have something to do with the fact that we have 2 children under three years old, as well as 4 cats under a year old. I am in college, so when our latest printer took its last gasps for breath, I cried. I have an essay due every other week, and it is a pain in the butt to use the college computers to print anything out!
Luckily, we were not printer-less for very long. With a wad of cash from our tax returns, we set out to Best Buy with a mission. We made several trips, debating between a few printers. Then, on our last trip, we saw the Canon BJC S600. We pushed the handy demo button next to the floor model, and out shot a full color picture, on normal printer paper. There was a comparison picture on the demo booklet, and to be honest, the only way we could tell the difference between the two was because the demo booklet was on glossy paper.
I knew we wouldn’t be able to afford a printer like this. It was quiet, fast, and it had AWESOME PRINTER QUALITY! (That came from a God-like voice deep within your computer.) But, lo and behold, the printer was only $200. Easily within our budget!
One other major feature with the Canon BJC S600 is the individual “Think Tank” system. There is a separate ink cartridge for each color, which means you only change one color at a time! So, if you are only out of red, you don’t have to pay $40 to replace your entire color cartridge, when the other colors may only be half-used! This is a huge deal for me, as we had to change cartridges fairly often with our other printers.
The printer comes with a sample of Photo Paper Pro, glossy, high quality, photo paper. We tried it out with a few pictures I had scanned, and the results were amazing! I just had to remember to keep my fingers off the pictures for a minute after they were done printing, as the ink was still wet. You also get a disc with Canon’s own photo printing program, which is extremely useful when you need to resize photos.
I have a single complaint about the Canon BJC S600. The paper tray (where paper goes after it has been printed) is not secured onto the printer. This means that my darling 2-year-old has been able to steal it and stash it in her room several times! But, a small price to pay for a printer this great!
