Cingular lost their Mojo after AT&T merger - Santa Cruz, CA

The old Cingular service was reasonably good. I switched to Cingular to get away from the terrible service at AT&T. Then the merger arrived and the trouble started. Cingular has picked up all of the bad habits of the old AT&T cellular. That is - poor or non existent customer service; long waits; voice mail hell; plus rude, incompetent and less than honest people. When you attempt to resolve simple technical problems you are switched from one person to the next. My advice, pass on this one and read Consumer Reports magazine January 2006 issue for unbiased reviews. Cingular has a serious management problem.
