**The Offer**
As a coffee lover who had been drinking cheap store brand coffee made out of a cheap coffeemaker for far too long, I immediately jumped on Gevalia's fantastic offer:
-4 Half Pound Boxes of Gourmet Coffee
-1 Stainless Steel deluxe Coffeemaker (made by Cuisinart)
-1 Thermos Mug

To clear up any confusion, Gevalia has a variety of offers available. Some are available directly through Gevalia.com, while other offers are available only by clicking on a link that takes you through a third party site (which then earns a commission). Once you sign up through the third party site (as I did), you are given an account number to use at Gevalia.com.
**Delivery**
After signing up, I received a confirmation email, but heard nothing further. A few days later, the UPS man knocked on my door with my coffeemaker and coffee.
**Gevalia Website**
Enclosed with my delivery was a letter with instructions for setting up a Gevalia.com online account. This took me less than a minute to accomplish. The online interface is seamless, and it allows you to control what coffee is delivered, and when it is delivered. There is also an option to put deliveries on hold. This isn't like BMG or Columbia House where they'll just continue to send you things you don't want. You have COMPLETE CONTROL over your shipments.
Considering how expensive these freebies retail for, it is fairly amazing that they don't lock you into mandatory purchases. They're confident enough that you'll sign up for the freebie, but then stay because the product is so good.
**Telephone Customer Service**
I've called customer service only once, and mainly to test them for this review. The call was answered promptly, by a cheerful and helpful customer service rep. This is nice, considering how many times customer service reps can't even speak English!
**The Coffeemaker**
This is a no kidding DELUXE coffeemaker. This machine is made for Gevalia by Cuisinart. It has a nifty showerhead type drip, so all coffee is watered evenly. This makes for a balanced cup of coffee. It has a clock and time feature, but I never use them. I enjoy the ritual of stumbling out of bed to make the coffee, first thing in the morning.
**The Coffee**
WOW. It took only one cup of Signature Blend to hook me. I couldn't believe how good it was. I am someone who enjoys STRONG coffee. When I make coffee for friends/family, I often get complaints that it is too strong. Anyway, to get to my desired level of strength with store brands, I found that it took over two tablespoons of coffee for every 6 ounces of water. With Gevalia, I only need ONE tablespoon per cup, for a good strong tasty cup of coffee.
What does that mean? It means that Gevalia's coffee isn't really as expensive as you might first be led to believe, because you don't need to use as much of it.
I also have to point out that Gevalia's brew gives me a good "buzz", unlike the cheap store brands, and even Starbucks.
Gevalia offers a huge variety of coffees to fit almost any taste. Most go for around $6 for 8 ounces, but some of the ultra premium blends go up to $25 for 8 ounces.
You get a choice of whole beans or ground. I get the pre-ground coffee. While this may be unacceptable to a purist, I can only say that when I cut open a bag of the ground, I can hear a distinct hissing sound as the vaccuum seal is broken, with a strong delightful smell overtaking me! The grounds look and smell like they had just been ground only minutes ago. It seems clear that Gevalia vacuum seals IMMEDIATELY after the beans are ground.
***CONCLUSION***
Great coffee, great coffemaker, for the price of a cheap Mr. Coffee brand coffee machine. Why not? Well, here's why: You may get hooked on this stuff!
