Avoid on-line purchases from Lamp Plus

We ordered a floor lamp from Lamps Plus on line. The order was shipped in two boxes, the glass shade and the base. When we tried to attach the shade to the base we discovered that it did not fit since the base was the wrong one. In fact it was clearly labeled with a different stock number than the one we ordered. We called customer service, and they promised to send a return shipping label to return the incorrect base. The label never came. We called a second time, and the rep said that, rather than shipping it, we should return the lamp base to a local Lamps Plus store. We did so, and waited, but still no base ever arrived. We called a third time and learned that Lamps Plus had never made any record of any of our calls! The rep promised to find out more information and call us at the end of the day. The call never came.
I am calling our credit card company to try to stop them from paying Lamps Plus. It is inconceivable to me that Lamps Plus customer reps make no notation on their computers when they talk with a customer.
Bottom line: If you want to patronize Lamps Plus, shop in their stores, make sure what you buy is O.K. before you take it home. Be aware that if you buy it online, there could be problems.
