Re: With+the+large+family+of+GeForce+2+and+3+cards+available... (Reply to this comment)

Your comment with the three available MX cards is a little too exaggerated.
The only difference between the original GeForce MX and the new 200 and 400 series is that the 200 and 400 series are clocked higher. Since memory bandwidth is a huge limitation to current video card performance, better performance memory would bring a substantial difference in performance between the original MX and the new 200 and 400 series. Since the 200 and 400 series are only clocked higher and feature memory thats no better than the original MX, the 200 and 400 series do not perform reasonably better than the original. In fact, it pretty much performs the same as the original MX. Since MX prices are dropping because nVidia is introducing 200 and 400 series versions, it would be wiser to get the original MX since it performs pretty much exactly the same as the 200 and 400 versions.

With the large family of GeForce 2 and 3 cards available... (Reply to this comment)
by yusakugo
There is nothing in your review to differentiate this card from other similar priced cards in the GeForce family... considering that there are three versions of the GeForce MX card (original, MX200, and MX400) and multiple versions of the GeForce 2 card (GTS, GTS Pro, and Ultra). The GeForce 2 GTS and GeForce MX200 cards have much better performance and only a slight price premium. You can find the GeForce 2 GTS for $120 these days and there will be a noticable performance in games with the GTS over the original MX even on a Pentium III 500MHz system. People should remember that the GeForce MX is about a year old now... and note that video card technlogy has only showns a upgrade cycle of 12-16 months! A GeForce 3 card can be bought for $320... this card performs at least 8x faster than the original MX.
A few specs on the card will really help your review as well as more details.
