Bought this primarily for document scanning and secondarily for scanning photos. It does document scanning quite well. I'm not as happy with the photo scanning. The area for placing the photo is toward the back of the scanner instead of the front. If the photo is at all curled, it's difficult to hold down the photo while closing the lid. In short, it's too darn hard to get the photo straight on the glass. I was happier with my cheap-o Visioneer in this respect. The colors from this scanner don't seem to be especially better than my Visioneer either.
