I have been using Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) since they started offering digital mobile phone service. I recommend it to anyone who asks, and even some people who don't. The service is superior to those of AT&T, MCI, Cingular, and Sprint in New York and New Jersey. Please check epinions regarding your local services.
As long as you can stay within your allotted monthly minutes, you are OK. If you feel it may not be enough, sigh up for a bigger allowance.
They are somewhat expensive, but the alternative is a cell phone without any signal, and, in my opinion, it's a paper weight.
The customer service used to be good, when it was Bell Atlantic, ever since they became Verizon, it's horrible. But, when given a choice, I'll always take better quality of phone service over quality of customer service.
