I've been shopping at Computer Geeks for a couple of years now and have only had one problem which was quickly addressed by the customer support folks.
About Computer Geeks:
Computer Geeks specializes in just about every computer part you can think of and then some. If you like building your own computer or have no problem replacing parts on your own - this could be a good online store for you.
My Experiences:
I've been purchasing them for about three years now and haven't had any major problems. My orders have processed and delivered within a timely manner. The prices are also decent.
The only problem I've had with a purchase was a PSU that was DOA. I contacted Compute Geeks and got an RMA number. They sent a replacement within about a week or so of getting the other one back.
Site Speed:
Perhaps it's just me, but their site seems a little slow and gets stuck more often than it should. For the record, I tend to open several tabs (I use Firefox) for one site when I'm shopping so perhaps that has something to do with it.
Selection:
Computer Geeks pretty much has it all. The selection includes barebone kits, desktops and laptops (refurbished) in addition to everything one could possibly install or plug in to a computer including digital cameras, PDA's, scanners and printers. They also have their own auctions running.
An added bonus is that the items have the number Computer Geeks has on hand that is updated as orders are processed. There's no ordering something just to find out it's out of stock.
You can order in volume, all you need to do is contact them via email for a quote. You can also use them as a source provided you have a Resale Certificate and access to a fax machine.
Shipping:
Shipping appears to be through Fedex (that's who's delivered all my orders) and is very reasonably priced. I've never paid more than $20 dollars for shipping and that was a refurbished desktop.
Orders recieved before 2pm (12pm for overnight) are generally processed and shipped the same day.
They do not ship to PO boxes.
International shoppers may want to find out about brokerage fees prior to ordering because I'm pretty sure everyone but the USPS charges them and this site doesn't use the USPS.
Payment Methods:
They accept all major credit cards, their own credit card and Paypal.
Shipping Restrictions:
If you use PP, they will only ship to a confirmed address. The confirmed address has to be a physical address, not a PO box - even if it's confirmed.
If you pay with a credit card, they will ship to an alternative address provided that it's on file with the issuing bank. If it's not, they won't ship to it.
Return Policy:
Personally, I think the policy is way too wordy and appears to contradict itself. From what I've deciphered, this is the deal:
You have 7 days to inspect your shipment and verify everything is there and working. You have to get an RMA number during this timeframe if you need to return anything. The RMA number is good for 30 days, so if it expires before you ship the item back you're pretty much out of luck.
Shipping is at your own expense and will not be refunded. They don't appear to do direct refunds. They will either repair the item, replace it or issue a store credit. After 30 days, they will not authorize any returns unless the item is not working.
Overall:
It's a pretty good online store, but if you're not sure of what you're buying, it's probably not for you as the return policy is more store friendly than customer friendly.
