Since I hooked up with AvantGo, I don't even bother with MovieFone anymore. One quick sync a day (less than a minute) and I've got every movie theater, movie listing, time and theater address in the zip code I select - all available with a couple of clicks on my Visor.

This ALONE is justification for downloading AvantGo.

Speaking of downloads, the AvantGo hook-up process will take even download-wary, non-geek Palm OS users just minutes to complete. I was quite impressed and relieved.

Beyond the movie stuff, you can download content from your Yahoo page ... national news, weather, stock updates, sports ... AND you can add as many specialty channels as you want so you can catch the day's news while you're standing in line.

Like what, you ask? Wall Street Journal, CNNfn, CNN, the Weather Channel ... PLUS Inside (entertainment updates on film, TV, media, books, digital and music news). Whew!

In my experience, you can sign up for a bunch of channels and not worry about space on your Palm ... but I DO really try to keep my channels to a minimum so my sync time is faster.

CONS: With so many folks digging this incredible service, you may encounter the occasional log jam while syncing. Just log off and try a bit later, or surf another site while you wait for the sync to complete.

By the way, I've checked out Vindigo and wasn't nearly as impressed as I was with AvantGo.
