I live in a very rural section of Maryland where we still are provided water from wells that are over a hundred years old. The water is so hard, calcium and lime streaks and build ups on everything from water heaters to shower heads need to be cleaned every couple months. I bought this C L R calcium, rust, lime remover to help me with my problems.
Using this product on my water heater was fine until it came to cleaning the heating coils. It removed the lime and calcium build up on the spouts fairly easy, but I had to buy new heating coils, I was chipping the chemical deposits and scratching the coils so I just bought new ones.
This C L R was excellent in removing the build up of chemical deposits on my shower heads and drain stainless steel hardware. I did however still had to use a couple toothpicks to poke open the holes on the shower heads, but the build up was gone and had more of an even flow when showering again.
This product is better suited for chrome, stainless steel, glass and regular harden steel. On plastic wares like Ice Tea containers where the tea stains can soak inside the plastic container are much harder to clean. When cleaning plastic wares with this product make sure you clean it a couple times with regular dish soap after wards to get all of this product safely out of that plastic item.
I do recommend this product on tubs, sinks and other wash basins, in removing chemical deposits. There are no ingriedents listed on the plastic bottle.
I have used this product on my truck, trailer and some of my machines to remove rust stains. I use a scouring pad with a sponge on it and dabbed this product on the rust stain, then in a circular motion the rust slowly is removed. I clean the spot let it dry and then spray rust prevent primer paint and this stops the rust to continue spreading. After the primer dries use the same color paint to paint over the primer to make it look good as new.
Now using this product on coffee decanters and machines. This CLR product is excellent on the glass part of your decanter, rubbed gently over the plastic parts of it. To clean out your coffee machine put three tablespoons of this product in water,(about half of what your decanter is )and run it through twice. You'll see white caked deposits coming from inside your machine, that's when you know it's working. Rinse machine twice to make sure that the product is out.
This CLR product does have a slight smell to it and for you all who are sensitive to cleaning products should wear rubber gloves. If this product splashes in your eyes wash your eyes out for at least 15 minutes. If accidentally swallowed, induce vomiting with a glass of water then milk.
Do not mix this product with bleach or other chemicals.
Do not use this product on Formica, Aluminum, Copper, Brass or Steamed Irons. I recommend this product on light to moderate chemical build ups. Anything with heavy chemical build up that can or should be replaced, should be.There is a money back warranty, if you want to go with that hassle, that is why I only recommend on light stained stuff.
