The World We Have Created for Ourselves

The Bottom Line Unite as a world and make it a better place to live.

What kind of world have us humans created for ourselves when innocent people working to feed their families are killed by a plane flying into their office? That is something that not only Americans should think about but something that the whole world should ask themselves. We are all living on this earth together and we are taking the human civilization down a dark road.

My Story

I was in school doing work in study hall when a kid came in and said, “A plane just crashed into the world trade center”. At first I didn’t understand the magnitude of what it was. I sat there for a while stunned and then I ran up to the library where the TV’s were on. There I was in the library with 30 other students and teachers glued to this scene. Not to be cliché but it looked like a big budget action movie. Frantic students and teachers using their cell phones to try to get in touch with moms, dads, nieces, cousins, and friends who were working their minutes before the planes crashed. It was then that my mind went into numbness. Time was warping and reality didn’t seam real, it was the longest day of my life. I had to go to class so I walked through the halls and I saw crying kids running out of the school hoping to get in touch with their parents somehow. My school is only 8 miles up the Hudson River from where the trade towers once stood. You can see the burning towers as they weekend and eventually fell as many did from the waterfront park in my town. The school turned off the TV’s out of fear that it may be too much for students to take. Instead of being comforted students began to speculate…”War?”, “Will my brother die in war?”, “Are there more planes in the air?”, “What is going on?”. Many students simply slipped out of school to go to friend’s houses to watch the breaking news on television, I did. After classes me and a group of my friends went down to the park and saw what we have been watching all day on tv, the non-existence of the two towers. The Twins that once stood so tall and proud were gone and replaced with a gray smoke. It was unreal and shocking. I will never be the same after that day filled with fear.

What can we do?

We have to stop this road to violence. A lot of people want war…but what does war do? It is a temporary shift in power that leads to another war. It’s an endless spiral that will eventually kill out the humans. And I don’t want to go down as the species that killed itself out. What drives any human to carry out an act of violence like the one on Tuesday? What kind of world have humans created for humans to do something like that? We ALL must come together at this time. Not only Americans but also everyone in the world no matter skin color, religion, or where they’re from. All humans must unite to create a world were war and death is not the answer.

Osama Bin-Laden

Justice must be done. How can one man kill so many people over 10 years and still be free? Osama must be found and brought to justice. This means the whole world should come together and find him. We all live on this world and he is a great threat to the future of it.

His Dream

Martin Luther King Jr.’s dream should be used from now until the day you die. “Do not judge a person by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” It is unfortunate that it takes something like the WTC Tragedy for the world to realize Martin’s dream. Live by it.

In the End

In the end the United States will come back stronger but I don’t think that is the biggest thing we need to worry about. Afghanistan is a place where poverty and illness is prominent and I think it is our job to help the innocent people of that country get through life…because we are a super power with those capabilities. I think that justice will be done but I hope to god that no innocent Afghanis are hurt in America’s response. Life goes on but I don’t think anyone will be the same after the events of September 11th, 2001, I know my life will never be the same.

God Bless America but more importantly God Bless the world and let peace reign.

Love to everyone
