| amyk49's Full Review: Dawn Direct Foam Dishwashing Detergent |
Procter & Gamble have really done it this time, with a true innovation in dishwashing liquid. I was extremely impressed with the results of this new product. Here's the skinny:
~ Product Description
Dawn Direct Foam Dishwashing Foam is a liquid soap formulated to keep greasy residue from redepositing onto your dishcloth, sponge, or other dishes. The folks from Dawn say, "Stop sweeping grease from dish to dish - vacuum it away with new Dawn Direct Foam." This product is advertised to absorb 10 times more grease than ordinary dishwashing liquids. Dawn Direct Foam's microemulsion formula breaks the grease down into tiny particles, which are then absorbed and locked into the foam, and the grease just rinses away with the foam right down the drain.
Dawn Direct Foam comes in an attractive 13.5 fl. oz. plastic bottle with a large pump top. Each bottle contains about 250 pumps, and Dawn says one pump will do an entire sink load of dishes. This is available currently in three scent - Fresh Rapids, Citrus Kick, and Lime Surge. I have the Fresh Rapids.
Directions for Use: First turn the pump top to unlock. Squeeze a wet sponge to eliminate excess water, and pump the foam directly onto the sponge. Use minimal water while washing items. Rinse, using as much water as you like. For tough grease, apply foam directly to the item - no need to add extra water.
~ My Experience
I use a dishwasher for most of my dishwashing, but there are still many occasions I need to use a dishwashing liquid. I was initially attracted to the pump-top bottle, and the "Direct Foam" which sounded like something new to try. The pump top is wide and sturdy, which is a plus when you've got soapy, slippery hands.
As directed, I wet a sponge and squeezed out the excess water. I applied one pump of Dawn Direct Foam to the sponge, and noticed the unique foam consistency - more like a foamy lather, and definitely not like ordinary liquid soap. The foam seemed so light that I figured how could this possibly do much, but BOY! was I wrong! That seemingly lightweight foam kicked butt on my greasy frying pan. Somehow that foam turns into a heavy-duty, rich, grease-cutting soap that really does the job. And one pump really does last through many dishes. I don't know about a sink load, because frankly I don't do that many dishes at a time, but I know that it lasts longer than any other dish liquid I've ever used before.
The scent I have, Fresh Rapids, was pleasant and nice. I didn't find it to be a strong scent, but a fairly typical soapy kind of scent.
I had a few other breakfast dishes to wash, and I found to my delight that, as advertised, grease did seem to be "vacuumed up", or absorbed, or whatever. It really and truly felt like that grease was rinsed away and not all stuck in the sponge, or on my hands. Honestly, I was amazed! This is like no other dish liquid I've used before.
I have been using Dawn Direct Foam now for a few months, and it will now be the ONLY dish liquid I use from now on. I have found no problems with it bothering my skin, either. In fact my husband and I both use this as a superb grease-cutting hand soap as well.
~ Final Thoughts
Dawn Direct Foam Dishwashing Foam is AWESOME! It performs as advertised, sucking up the grease and allowing it to be rinsed away, rather than redepositing it onto other dishes or your sponge. The foam lasts and lasts. Procter and Gamble have come up with a truly new and revolutionary product that is a huge winner. GO GET SOME!
