| germank106's Full Review: Febreze NOTICEables |
I'm a big fan of certain Febreze products, but I had yet to try their new Febreze NOTICEables. Unlike other air fresheners, NOTICEables offer a dual scent. It's kind of like getting two for the price of one.
In order to use the NOTICEables, you have to purchase a Starterkit. The kit comes packaged in a standard hard plastic bubble wrap and contains the unit that plugs into your outlet and the glass bottle with the scented oil.
When I opened the starter kit, the bottle that contains the scent felt very oily and slick. Seemed it had leaked just a bit during transport. The oil rinsed of easy enough and the bottle was still full and I could not detect any cracks on it, so I used it.
To use simply unscrew the caps from the oil bottles and push it into the bottom of the plug in unit. Then plug the whole thing into any standard outlet. Easy enough.
If your unit works correctly a green light will come on. This light will change as the unit switches to the other scent. In my case it switches from "Calypso breeze" to "Hawaiian paradise", with Hawaiian paradise being the stronger of the two scents. Other scents are available, but since I have not yet seen this product in any stores here, I cannot tell you what they are.
I installed the unit in the family room. It measures about 14'x10' and is open to the kitchen. It took about two hours for the scent to become noticeable when I walked by the unit. I must say that the unit was fairly cold when I received it, so it took a while for everything to warm up to room temperature. The absolute great thing is that I didn't have to search for an outlet to install this thing in. If your outlets are installed upside down (like most of mine), simply rotate the plug in on the back of the Febreze NOTICEable and you're in business.
I have used other "plug-in" style air fresheners and the problem I had with some of them was that they became fairly hot around the area where they were plugged in. Not so with the NOTICEables. The unit that plugs in stays cool to the touch.
In the back of the plug in unit is a small switch that lets me adjust the strength of the scent. I can switch from "low" to "high" and should have seen (smelled) a big difference in the amount of scent that is put out into the room. I didn't. No matter how I set the unit, I could barely smell the scent. Only when I was real close to the unit could I smell anything, but it did not distribute itself throughout the room. The scent is noticeable within six feet of the unit, but further away and there's nothing. I had my own tropical depression right in my house. If I could turn it into a tropical paradise and get the scent to distribute throughout the room, that would even be better.
I did switch the unit to a much smaller room (8'x8')and shut the door. The scent is much more noticable but still not overpowering.
Whatever scent I could detect smells very pleasant. I'm not a fan of "tropical" scents, but this one is fairly subtle and does not overpower the house. The switching between the two scents is very clever. Just when one get's a bit too strong, the unit switches itself to the lighter scent.
I have used the NOTICEables for about a week now and the level in the oil bottle has barely dropped. Febreze states on the package that the scent lasts for more than 30 days, and, at the rate this one is going, I assume they're right. I will update as soon as the first bottle of scent is gone and I'm ready for a refill. Each bottle contains a total of 26 ml of oil (.879 fl. oz).
The refills for the NOTICEables are available everywhere Febreze products are sold. One big plus in my book is that the refills have a "scratch and sniff" label on top that lets me find out if the scent is right for me. This takes the guess work out of trying to find the right scent for me. In case of the scent I received, the package label is right on target, so there's no confusion of smelling the label and getting something completely different when I actually use the scented refills.
Febreze NOTICEables will remain on my shopping list until it get's much warmer outside, then I will probably just open the windows. But for the colder month this one is perfect.
I did receive Febreze NOTICEables free of charge from Hass MS & L in return for my unbiased review.
