| amyk49's Full Review: Febreze NOTICEables |
Our home is not particularly stinky, or prone to bad odors, even with two dogs. However I do occasionally use various types of air fresheners whenever the need arises. I've tried most types of air fresheners, from the sprays, to scented candles to heated oil - you name it. I was excited to try the newest offering in air fresheners from Febreze - Febreze NOTICEables. Let me tell you more about this innovative product.
~ Product Description
I know that with many "automatic" air fresheners it seems that after a while, usually just a short while, I don't seem to notice the scent anymore, even though there is more product left in the container. This is partly due to the fact that your sense of smell becomes used to a particular scent after a short period of time, and mutes the scent. This is a protective response by the body to assist in dissipating terrible smells, which, let's face it, can be a really good thing in certain circumstances! Febreze NOTICEables has overcome this tendency to adapt to a scent by alternating between two different scents throughout the day, and therefore constantly refreshing your sense of smell. Cool, huh?
Febreze NOTICEables is a plug-in hot oil air freshener, similar to others currently on the market, except this one contains TWO bottles of scented oil, and the unit alternates automatically between the two scents.
The two scents are "related" and similar in fragrance so they do not clash. The packaging even has a "scratch & sniff" feature so you can get an idea of all the scents. The scents available are:
Outdoor: Morning Walk/Cleansing Rain
Tropical: Calypso Breeze/Hawaiian Paradise
Floral: Jasmine Breeze/Pink Magnolia
Vanilla: Vanilla Refresh/Vanilla Bean
Linen: Clothesline Breeze/Meadow Song
The warmer unit is a white plastic with a sort of fluted top. It is fairly basic and nothing fancy to look at. It looks fine, though, especially against a white wall.
A nice feature is that a soft green light will glow, when plugged in, over the scent that is currently being warmed. This green light is soft and pleasing, and does allow you to see how the sides alternate.
The unit is very easy to assemble. Just unscrew the caps on the fragrance bottles and insert each bottle completely into the warmer unit until it clicks. Be sure to adjust the warmer to the desired intensity before plugging in by sliding the switch on the back to Low or High. Then just plug in to any electrical outlet.
A few cautions: These are only to be used with Febreze NOTICEables dual scented oil refills. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Use only in properly functioning 120-volt electrical outlet. For indoor use only. Do not use with extension cords, do not immerse in water, or use in damp or wet areas. Do not use in small, confined pet areas without adequate ventilation.
~ My Experience
I found it was extremely easy to insert the fragrance bottles and plug in the unit. While inserting the bottles I did get some oil on my hands, however. Actually I think the bottles had leaked just a little bit, and the oil was on the warming unit. This probably wouldn't happen if you were working with just a package of refills. In any case, the oil was strongly scented, and I found it was difficult to remove from my hands, even after several washings. So you don't want to get the oil on your hands!
I plugged it in near our entryway, and noticed the soft green light glowing over one of the oil bottles, so I knew the unit was working. I had it set to the "Low" intensity setting. After a short while I could begin to notice the fragrance almost entirely throughout our small home, even upstairs! The only thing - I wasn't exactly thrilled with the scent. I have Morning Walk/Cleansing Rain, by the way. It was okay, I guess. A typical hot-oil type fragrance. But nothing that I could get excited about. In fact, it had a kind of harsh, slightly chemical-like scent. Not a natural fragrance. If I had an odor problem in the house however, the scent would have been certainly nice enough to alleviate the odor.
I did notice throughout the day that the green light would alternate between the two scents. As I mentioned, the two scents are "related" and rather similar, so I didn't notice an obvious change in the scents. But the fragrance was definitely noticeable all throughout my house, and seems to remain today just as strong as when I first plugged in the unit. And remember, I had this set to "low"!
A couple negatives - you must unplug the unit to change the intensity from High to Low, or vice versa. I've found myself wishing that Febreze NOTICEables had an "Off" button available without having to unplug the unit. The only way to turn it off completely is to unplug it.
~ Final Thoughts
Febreze NOTICEables is an innovative air freshener that really is noticeable and long-lasting, even on the Low setting. It is simple and easy to use. If you like air fresheners, you will probably LOVE this! If you are sensitive, have allergies, or other breathing issues, I wouldn't recommend this, because it produces a rather strong scent that is, in my opinion, somewhat harsh. Perhaps the other scents are better, but Morning Walk/Cleansing Rain didn't do anything for me, and had an unnatural, chemical-like scent.
I will recommend this if you have an odor problem in your home, and if you really love air fresheners. But personally, I didn't care for the strong and harsh, unnatural scent.
I received this product free from Hass MS& L in exchange for my unbiased opinion and review.
