Volition is not a pretty site. But it doesn't have to be. It's a site that you can surf to find bargains, free stuff and samples. And it has been operating since 1997! This site is a great example of how to pick one idea, go with it and build a business around it.
Essentially, the site is a directory that can get you to all the other free sites on the Internet. It's a must have on the favorites list, because the webmaster (Ray Sola) is a pro who really takes his bargain finding job seriously.
It's also sprinkled with useful information like how to get your name off those annoying pre-approved credit card lists. That info alone is worth a bookmark!
Volition is divided into interest segments: Free stuff, travel, get paid, try to win stuff, bulletin boards, postcards, finances, your new home, car, cool website lists and more... you can pick your area and see what sites are worth your time. In addition, each area lets you sign up for an email list targeted to your interests. This is where volition makes it's money, so please do sign up.
I think that the funniest part of the site is the Freebie Grabber's club, where you can sign up to get branded merchandise from Volition. For 19.99 you get a whole slew of items, but my favorite is the mousepad that says "FREE IS MY FAVORITE PRICE!"

Overall, this is a site that's design is so so, but the text heavy idea works here -- people are coming to this site to read about where to go next. Thanks to Ray Sola, they'll be able to figure out exactly where that is!
