| starstraf's Full Review: Brillo Scrub 'n Toss |
I have not found the third wonderful use for Brillo Scrub 'n Toss pads so I figured time to write a review.
I first bought these disposable pads to clean the cat box, I had a coupon to try out Brillo Scrub n Toss pads so I gave it a try. They come ten 4.75 x 5 pads to a box, you can cut them in half for smaller jobs. They have two sides, a white soft side made of rayon/polypropylene fabric that is good for getting into corners and a blue side made of polyester fabric that is abrasive enough to do some heavy scrubbing though sometimes it sheds blue flakes. They contain no soap so are safe to use on products such as pizza stones and cast iron.
Cat Box
I had a scrub brush that I only used to clean the cat box but it had lost enough bristles that it was time to replace. Paper towels were not sturdy enough but I didnt want to use anything I could not throw away so I though this would be the prefect product and I was right. It is able to scour anything stuck to the box, and flexible enough to get into corners. And since I just toss when done I dont have to worry about where to keep them to make sure no one else uses for some other purpose. I would have continued to purchase this product with this as the only use for it.
Muddy shoes
I didnt realize the ground was muddy when I cut across the yard, so my nice shoes were caked with mud. After it dried I went to clean them and again started with paper towels and they did not hold up to the task. AH! Another job for Brillo Scrub n Toss pads. I was able to scrub off the mud, easily get into the ridges and then toss the mess away. I no longer had a single purpose item, it was indeed multi-purpose.
Cast Iron
I do all the dishes at our house, my partner is a wonderful chef, but sometimes it is a challenge to keep up with the dishes. For Christmas he got a Lodge Pro Grid/Iron Griddle and has been testing out how it works on all sorts of meats. This means lots of cleaning, lots of fat, lots of work. Cast Iron is a unique surface, you can scour and scrub it but you can't use soap when cleaning. I had tried cleaning with sponge (made the sponge black), scrub brush (didn't get the grease off), paper towels (fell apart). This morning I realized that I had some Brillo Scrub 'n Toss pads around and gave it a try - and once again they saved the day. And after the griddle was clean I could just throw the pad away.
