Vacations of Disaster
by quemas40 | Feb 09 '06
After reading a review I chose Vacations To Go over some of the other on-line companies. The review is accurate, but I have had a different experience. They are a great source of info and prices on cruises. What they aren't is a reliable source for making sure you'll get to go!
We planed a family reunion cruise with a group specialist, set the approximate number attending, and I sent out the invites. We were told we had a block of rooms and that reservations/deposits were due in about 10 days. Unbeknownst to us and obviously the specialist, the 5-6 month lead time wasn't enough and the ship rapidly sold out of triple and quads. We had our rooms, but no one else in the family did. No one from the company even knew that this cruise was selling out! The one family member that did make a reservation on a triple, and a deposit, didn't have that reservation placed and so lost her space also. (As well as non-refundable airline fares).
Family members have spent hours trying to find a spot on the ship, nerves have become frayed, and our specialist acts indignant that we are upset. Our "family reunion" has been turned over to someone else in the company, but family members are trying to reserve rooms through other agencies, and have been successful. I had e-mailed the CEO, but have yet to hear anything definitive, and there still aren't available quads or triples from this company. (Yet one was obtained through another company).
Sorry, a definitive TWO THUMBS down.
