Let's Overcome Fear By Being Alert And Resuming Routine!

The Bottom Line We should not let these wicked change our way of life in this country. With our unity and faith, let's move on with our life!

The first thing I would like to share with you is that we should do our best to keep the economy going. This means that as consumers we should keep spending, traveling, getting on these airplanes that are almost empty. The worst thing we could do is to let these bad guys have a big smile in their mountainous hideout. Most of the officials of the Bush administration and other well-known economists think that we could play our role in keeping the economy going. This is why they are urging each one of us to go back to our routine while they are looking for creative ways to deal with the criminals. It is true the impact of these terrorist acts on our country will be felt for a while, but we can't give up. We are a young nation of more than 3 billion inhabitants with strong backbone. The recent physical and spiritual blows may have caused us to bend, stumble, but we will rise again with all our might and glory. The Pentagon will be repaired. Already, talks are underway about the reconstruction of the WTC. At least, part of the site will be dedicated to a memorial.

Continue to seek God's STRENGTH, PROTECTION and GUIDANCE!

When our world seemed to collapse, when all we put our faith in seemed to disappear, we turned to God for healing and comfort. United more than ever before, we have joined our shoulders together to help our fellow patriots. I still feel warm about all the great gestures, acts of compassion and kindness that I witnessed after these bad terrorist attacks on our country. Long lines of people have been willing to spend hours in the sun to give blood for the victims to the point that some blood banks had to send some volunteers back to their home. Obviously, they were rescheduled for a later date. Many people who never considered making a donation to anything suddenly felt the need to contribute and participate in some type of fund-raising for the survivors of the victims of both WTC and Pentagon. More than anything, we have seen how devoted our fellow men and women in uniform have been. They did not hesitate to give their put their lives on the line for complete strangers. As the first wave of firefighters and cops rushed into the building to rescue people, they dealt with their own fear, overcame it and went on about their job. They will never know the full story of that fateful day in our history. What we can say about them is that they were true heroes. In memoriam to them, we should also be altruistic. We should be more generous and undertake to help somebody else. The best tribute we can pay to them is to contribute to the WTC firefighters's and police officers funds. In fact various agencies are collecting funds to distribute to those in need. Think about the Red Cross, United Way, www.libertyUnites.com etc. Web sites such as epinions, yahoo, AOL, Paypal and many others are also accepting contributions for various charity programs.

Your prayers as well as your financial contributions are still necessary. In these hard emotional times, many parents, spouses, brothers, cousins, sisters who have lost loved ones could not make it without these spiritual weapons. It was so refreshing to hear that a young woman who was looking for her brother and father at Ground Zero asked us, viewers, to keep praying for her and her family. She said she felt strong as she was walking the pavement from one hospital to the next mortuary. She said she never felt tired of posting on various buildings. The same can be said about the young wife of a passenger on the flight that crashed into the WTC. She was very stoic. She talked about her husband in good terms while surrounded by her parents, family members and friends. She was very courageous amid such devastation. All the more reasons, we should go on. Yes, we will have to bury our deads by attending many funerals and vigils, but we will have to go on fighting to reclaim our way of life and freedom.

"What can we do?" you may be asking. We can do something any way!

Top Ten Things We Can Do In These Times Of Terror Attack, Talks Of War

10. If we are traveling, we'd better get to the airport way ahead of time, maybe 2 hours just so we have time to get our luggage inspected!

9. Cooperate with the authorities at barricades, road blocks. Don't complain about all the changes that are happening and compare the situation to that of a foreign country you may have been to. Believe me, it is far worse int those countries. We have something that most people on the face of the earth don't have. No wonder they seek refuge right here!

8. Keep your eyes open. A police officer, however he/she may be assigned to your community or neighborhood, you are the first line of defense. You are the best watch men and women. You keep an eye open on the activities of your community. I am still asking how these guys managed to go undetected for so long while living under our nose.

7. Jump to assist your neighbors. Make time for them. There is a sense that more and more people want to get connected to somebody. Your neighbors who may have been your enemies for so long may want to take some emotions out of their chest. Pay attention to them. You will be surprised to find out how many people want to talk, just talk about the recent horrible acts of terrorism. Be there for your friends as well as your enemies. Be there for the strangers as well as the church or club members, your pals etc.

6. If you know somebody who has lost a loved one in this tragedy, make time to comfort him/her. Offer your assistance in the areas of child or pet care. You will be surprised to find out that some routine activities are not taken care of. The kids as well as the pets have to be fed. In their time of confusion and mourning, these survivors may not have time to prepare a good meal. Ask them how you can be useful to them. Many of these families have just lost the breadwinner. The company he/she used to work for may not have chance to process the paperwork for any funds. Obviously, depending on how smooth and slim the bureaucracy may be, these families may receive a check allowing them to pay rent and utilities for example.

5. Organize a mini fund-raising activity for some survivors or recognized charitable organization.
That's what my company did. Take advantage of what your colleagues and team mates like doing. In our case, we knew we had a lot of good cooks. We had a bake sale. We raise several hundreds dollars that we sent to Red Cross.

4. Refrain from engaging into conversations about generalizations and blaming a whole group of people for the heinous actions of a few. A lot of Arab Americans are suffering. This is why I applaud President Bush who has appeared with some Siks, muslim leaders. There have been many attacks on cab drivers of Middle eastern origin. An Arizona owner of a gas station, a Sik, was murdered just for wearing his turban and growing his long beard. Let's be tolerant of others in these times. Let's discourage anybody who wants to make disparaging statements about Islam, muslims and Arabs as a group. Au contraire, be hopeful that justice is found and administered!

3. Fly with one of our ailing airlines companies. Rent a room in a hotel. Get out and spend. Take advantate of low fares to visit relatives in other states. Go have some fun at Las Vegas, Reno, San Francisco. Many tourism-dependent services are suffering. People have bills to pay. Lay-offs won't solve their problems. A lot of these great destinations have seen a drastic dwindling in the number of tourists for this time of the year.

2. Make plans to learn a foreign language and the culture of the region or specific country. Why did these terrorists manage to hold this secret for so long? It may be because the majority of us don't speak their language or a second or third language. They can plot right in our face. If you speak any middle eastern languages such as Pushtu, Farsi and any other languages, you are in great business with the Pentagon, CIA and FBI. They need you out there!

1. Take care of fear by learning all the details you can about the masterminds of these terrorist acts, Osama Bin Laden and his associates. Remain informed but don't let your mind get clogged by too much news. The cable networks are in the business of bombarding you with the latest. Ask questions, remain curious about anything.

May His protection be over you and your loved ones! May He guide your paths these days!

God Bless America Always!
