Here we go.
Conclusion first :
i got it Not too cheap, for Almost usd 200.
Not too bad , IF and ONLY IF :
you have 120mm size SLIDES or NEGATIVES.
if you have only 35mm Slides and Negatives,
you have Many other choices...
if you dont have film (negatives or slides)
go look at normal scanners please !
it works good most of time.
one must be a bit patient, but it works.
remember you are saving LOTS of money
especially i f you just avoided purchasing
120 size dedicated scanners !
for 120 size, go for max optical resolution.
its not fantastic, but darn good, for the price !
takes its sweet time of course,, but
this is now machine patience vs yours !
for 35mm films, stick to 600 dpi or higher please..
do experiment with descreen and many other
options in the software.. to see what is fine
enough for you.
if you get minor probs, do
use the CALIBRATE button.. ( in software
NOT on the scanner body !)
does work,sometimes.
Otherwise, even after scanning
one will need some other software to
do the tones, colors, sharpness, and other
adjustments..
as an example,
max optical resolution save for a 120 format,
6x6 one frame scan , yields an average of
150 MB file size in jpg !!!
duhhhh, huh ?
that means, a dvd disk will save only
about 30 frames or fotos !!! eeek.
but good, yeah ?
yes it is.
mine started giving me wierd colorful
up to down lines just few weeks before
its 1 yr long warrantee auto-expired.
in some "cases"
simple UN INSTALL and RE INSTALL
of the canon software will undo this prob
or if you go and use software,
like SILVERFAST, this should undo it...but
seems
mine was truly a scanner mechanical prob.
so
canon fixed it.
but...mmm
i wonder you know...
within a year, a major prob like that ?
and i hardly used it 30-40 times in the year !
total use was about 50-60 hrs !
so its not TUFF, as you might expect of
antyhing manufactured by recent human hands....
don t trust canon on the USB connection.
IF your computer cant find this scanner
dont waste time shouting at canon like i did.
TRY rebooting , each time while connecting
to a DIFF usb port on your computer
ONE OF THEM WILL usually, WORK.
and this darn scanner will prefer ONLY
taht one particular port ! for some reason.
duhhh.
do be assured.
for negatives, slides, especially 120 size
this is a good first choice or backup.
for those on a budget like me,
Go for it.
it will be a good way to share your
120 size slides ! or upload !
or print out at 4x 6 for quick use !
have fun!!!!!!
