| jimnjean's Full Review: Baby Jogger Jogger II (16in) - Navy Stroller |
A few months ago, we began searching for a new stroller. The old one we had simply didn't cut it on hikes through our local forest preserves and arboretum. In a fit of impulsiveness, we went to the local Toys-R-Us and bought a no-name jogging stroller. That very same day I tried using it at the arboretum, and YICK, it was pretty bad.
So I returned the stroller and started reading epinions. The consensus seemed to be the baby jogger II (or Jogeroo). So the only questions in my mind (since epinion members have let to lead me astray) were which model, which color, and where to buy it.
First I settled on the 20" alloy wheels. I figured that buying bigger wheels would be better since we planned on using it off-road quite a bit. Then we settled on blue since we didn't really want the stroller color to be the standout feature.
Lastly I did some research on where to buy it, and based largely on suggestions from other epinioners, we ended up buying online. I found two or three good sites, but ended up buying from bicycle-source.com. They offer to beat any other online price, ship direct from Baby Jogger (although it's a bit obtuse on their website, the shipping label showed Baby Jogger as the point of origin), and offer free shipping to boot.
We ended up paying $373, which might sound like a lot, but that included not only the stroller, but a bug canopy, rain canopy, and carrying case. And unlike other sites, the accessories were original Baby Jogger name brand, as they even shipped in the same box.
So what do we think of our ridiculously expensive stroller? It's the BEST thing we've bought for our son (and for ourselves since becoming parents!). We use it every single day. My wife takes our son to the park, and he absolutely loves riding in the baby jogger. He's normally a pretty active dude, but put him in his jogger, and he just chills out and seems ok with the world.
And every weekend I take him out in the a.m. while Mom sleeps in. We usually end up going to the Morton Arboretum (a fantastic place by the way), and the jogger may as well not even be there. I can walk up a steep off-road trail with our 30 pound son, all the while pushing the stroller with my pinkie, literally!
I just can't find the right words to describe how solidly built the stroller is. If you're considering buying one, but aren't sure if the price is right - go to the local running shop and try one out, you'll be sold as soon as you give it a little push and get almost no resistance. And your child will love it to boot!
