Dine for America - A great fundraiser
Oct 03 '01 (Updated Oct 06 '01)
The Bottom Line Dine for America has enlisted the help of several large restaurant chains, to donate all proceeds on October 11th to the 9-11 fund.
Update: Number of participating restaurants is now in the many thousands....
As something of an unconventional topic within epinions, I did have to question how I would go about writing something here. It seems to me that this is more of a place to be posting and sharing information rather than the more typical pros and cons of products that we are used to writing about.
I write here because I am proud to share that my restaurant group has decided to do something for the 9-11 cause, aimed at raising funds for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to help aid victims and their families. The event will be known as “Dine for America” and it has enlisted the participation of several large restaurant groups.
The event will be held on October 11th (one month to the date of the tragedy) and 100% of proceeds for that day will be donated. Participating restaurants include:
Restaurants Unlimited – Palomino Euro Bistro, Kincaid’s and others
Outback – Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Roy’s, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse
Brinker International – Chili’s, On the Border, Macaroni Grill
Carlson Restaurants – TGI Friday’s, Pick Up Stix, Samba Room
Lone Star – Lone Star Steakhouse, Sullivan’s Steakhouse, Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse

The list is ever growing so you should look at the website (www.dineforamerica.com) for a full list.
I and many other servers and employees will be donating my time free on that night, and donating all of my tips to the cause. There’s also a request to suppliers and any support (we’ve already seen great support from printers to help us publicize this event) for donations that will help maximize the effort. The more contributions, the lower the cost and the greater the proceeds.
October 11th and Dine for America promises to be a great contribution to the relief effort, and should be a chance for many to get out as sadly restaurant and travel numbers are down in recent weeks. If you should be in the area pop by Palomino Palm Desert and ask for Andrew or try out one of the growing list of restaurants.
For full details go to:

I’m sure myself and a few colleagues will be popping over to TGI Friday’s after work and “drinking for America”.
